Nooooooooo! Mariposa Grove will be closed!

Well I just found out we will miss the giant sequoias by 1 month. Evidently they are closing Mariposa Grove for a 2 year project. We have 2 nights booked in the valley, and then purposefully booked Wawona on our last night to visit Mariposa Grove on our way to DLR.

I'm disappointed Guess this just means we will be back!!!

I had heard it was closed That is such a bummer.

Any way you can either stop to see the coastal redwoods on the way to Yosemite?

We will be going to Sequoia National Park in July. I debated Yosemite but ended up deciding on Sequoia since there are giant trees (the number one thing I want to see) and less crowds.

I don't know much about the area so I can look into other options! We will be in San Francisco for 2 days prior to Yosemite. Then we head to Anaheim.

There are sequoias at Tuolumne Grove just west of the valley - that might be a good replacement for Mariposa.
