Noooo...the end of EMH?

I wouldn't get too upset about this until the "field" for EMH is removed from the chart. The chart provided in the article's link still shows a space for EMH, but that field isn't filled in. I would think that if and when Disney eliminates EMH altogether, that field will go away and will never be spoken of again. It won't be tantalizingly dangled in front of the viewer. At least, that is my read on the situation.

I like your read and am going to go with it at this point for my own sanity's sake.

The only issue with that theory is that the schedule still has placeholders for the parades at AK and DHS, both of which ended years ago.

That being said...I don't think they're ending EMH altogether, but maybe they're eliminating them during one of the slowest months of the year. I'd think that would be one of the first steps to ending them altogether in a few years. Maybe they start with no EMH in say January and September, then add more slow months, until finally only the summer months remain.

EMH not being listed 7 months out .... could mean anything from they might change up the days/times, they might not have in January or just an oversight.

That said to me there are very few benefits to staying onsite that I would consider are worth the money and one of them is EMH. That is probably the biggest perk to us. Without that .... I will be hard pressed to pay onsite prices given what I am now able to get offsite for much less money.

Except it says: "Dark" next to those things, which is generally accepted to mean: "Nothing going on that day." If and when the word "Dark" appears in the EMH field, then it will be time to grab the torches and pitchforks. "Kill The Beast!"

I can only hope in my rose-colored glasses, Pollyanna wishes that they're somehow responding to the complaints about issuing tentative calendars and then changing everything up. . . Although I suppose issuing a calendar with no EMH and suddenly populating it after 180 or 60 day windows pass is no better than issuing one with tentative hours/EMH then switching them around. . .
Truly baffling as they do need on-site perks to fill rooms!

If it is the end, and I'm hoping it's not, its another cost cutting measure. 3 hours less payroll and other expenses per week. They would probably be banking on the 60 day FP booking perk to keep guests in their resorts. Too early to tell, though. JMO.

If they did do away with EMH, there would be very little incentive to staying onsite. Compared to offsite resorts, there's hardly anything that sets Disney resorts apart besides EMH and transportation. If it's true, we might have to go stay at the offsite condo.

Location, location, location. Plus, people love the convenience of not having to rent a car (DME) and being able to pre-pay for meals (DDP).

Could mean DIFFERENT perks for onsite guests:
1) A 4th Fast Pass? (I would think that would potentially be more popular to people who don't like to get up early or stay late)
2) Free Memory Maker? (since it works well with their Magic Bands)

Let's face it .. they don't need special deals like Free Dining and EMH to get people to stay on-site ...

That being said .. I am sure a lot of people will take the MUCH cheaper option of staying off-site if EMH is done away with .. which means Disney will of course respond by raising parking prices .. thus making staying on-site look that much better.

There's a lot more to Disney resorts than magic hours...enjoy the econo-lodge.

EMH were cut to 2 hours last year or the year before.
