Nook--how do I save $ with it?

I really don't know much about it , but I was just given a Nook Color. What can I do with it, and are there free apps that I can use with it? Are there any other ways to save money with it? What do you use yours for?

we have one and rooted it, which allows you to access to the android market (now google play) where there are tons of free and paid for apps. i have disboards forum app on it too.

The Barnes & Noble web site offers hundreds of low cost and free books. Also, they have a free book every Friday.

They used to post it on their FB age but I don't know if they still do that as I haven't seen it in quite a while. Not sure if I just miss it or they stopped.

I have a friend who has thousands of books on pdf, so I get them from her, the library, some not so legal sites, and I also learned to strip the encryption from Nook and Kindle books so I can get free ones from both Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

I go to ManyBooks.net, Project Gutenberg, or Google Books and pick up free .EPUB books by the dozens for mine. Today I uploaded the original Tarzans, Barsoom, and Allan Quartermain books. (My tastes run from classics to pulp and back, I'm in a pulp phase now I guess.)

I also pick up free indie books from LiveJournal, WattPad and other sites and convert them to PDF or EPUB for my Nook.

How do we find out what the free Friday books are?

Check the Nook blog every Fri. for the free book. Sometimes it is up for a few days, the Fri. book still shows as free to me at 12:33 AM ET
