Years ago my neighbor who is Portugese used to make this noodle pie for Christmas and bring it over for my boys and me. My now 30 year old son was talking yesterday about how great it was and how he missed getting them every year.
I would love the recipe if anyone has it since the neighbor is no longer iwth us.
It had spagetti noodles and some kind of custard but it didn't have alot, just enough to hold the noodles together. She then sifted cinnamon on it. My boys would heat it up in the microwave and eat the whole thing in minutes. It was thin, maybe about 1/2 lb of noodles and she put it on a regular dinner plate, not in a pie pan.
I found what I think might be close to the recipe but it is called Italian noodle pie and it looks like it might more custardy because it uses 1 lb of noodles and 2 dozen eggs, 1 qt of cream, sugar, butter and vanilla.
Does anyone have any idea how to make the portugese variety?

Try searching for a German recipe called Kugle or Kuegle. It may be similar.

I couldn't find anything on a Portugese Noodle Pie -- but you try a Noodle Pudding. It's a Jewish recipe and usually uses wide noodles, but you could make it with spagetti -- I've seen it done that way. My mother makes noodle pudding some times, but I don't have her recipe. Now that I think of it I'm going to have to get it from her. :)

Here is a recipe from cooks.com:

THE WORLD'S BEST NOODLE PUDDING

1 lb. broad noodles, cooked

PUDDING:

1 pt. sour cream
12 oz. cream cheese
1 c. sugar
6 eggs
1/2 lb. butter, melted

TOPPING:

1 c. crushed corn flakes
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 stick butter, melted

Place cooked and drained noodles in 9"x12" Pyrex dish. Combine and mix pudding ingredients in a food processor or blender. Pour mixture over noodles. Prepare topping by mixing the corn flakes, sugar and melted butter together. Sprinkle over pudding and bake in preheated 325 degree oven for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
