Has anybody ever heard of this or tried this????

I work every saturday and Sunday and am trying to figure out how to have a yard sale. I'm wondering with the Summer and highly advertised sale could I make a Wednesday Yard sale work.

Thoughts.

Around here a Friday would do great. Depending on what you had and how you advertised you could possibly do ok on a Wednesday. many people plan their Fridays and Saturdays around sales.

Fridays are popular here as well. I have also seen weekday sales that run something like 4-8 p.m., rather than the usual morning hours.

Thanks for your thoughts..I think I'll plan for a Friday and see how it goes.

As a person who had one or two sales every year for over 30 years..yes i kid you not...(I have retired)...my extra Disney $$$
....my suggestion would be to make sure you open early ...like 7 or 8 am since you are only doing the one day....have lots of signage....even if its just an arrow...borrow tables so you can display things ...

Thanks for the advice. I'll make sure to do this.

I have done sales on Thursday evening, Friday, and Saturday, and have done better on Thursday or Friday than my Saturday sales. In fact, I just did one today and made enough to fund our MNSSHP tickets! So excited!

I have friends who have done their sales Thursday 4-8 (so people who work a 9-5 type schedule can come) and Friday morning (to catch the regular Friday/Saturday morning rummage sales shoppers). They seem to have just as much success as Friday/Saturday morning sales.

If you have items that you know are in demand (baby clothes and "stuff", a certain brand of kitchenware, purses, etc.) use word of mouth and invite friends and friends of friends to stop by early, like Wednesday night. When my kids were little, I would do this. It allowed my friends to shop without the craziness of all the other people and gave them first dibs on items they wanted. I sometimes had made a couple hundred dollars before the sale even started!

I've done Thursday evenings from 3-8 p.m. and also opened early on Friday mornings at 6:30 a.m. to attract shoppers. I also have sold goods as we are setting up --some of my best customers have been the guys roofing, installing siding etc. Let your friends know that they can "pre-shop" before the official sale starts and you'll be surprised how brisk business will be. Good luck

Do you have any flea markets or farmers markets in your area on a weekday? We have a town nearby that has a flea market on Thursdays so lots of people have garage sales on Thursdays around there.

I also suggest a Thursday evening & Friday morning. They do well around here. Good luck!

Where I live, Thursdays are actually the busiest day for garage sales.

Same here, Thursdays are the day! Friday is half that much and Saturdays are usually a bust so I would close up by noon and have everything packed and taken to Goodwill by 2:00.
