Non Teva suggestions?

Here's my snafu. I found a pair of Teva's called Sonic Boom (I think). I passed them up. Big mistake. Now I can't find them even online and my trip clock is ticking. The other Teva's didn't quite feel right so I'm skeptical about buying them for WDW. I despise wearing sneakers in hot weather. Does anyone have any non Teva sandal suggestions? Any help would be appreciated but I need it quick! :) I have to buy them and break them in before Aug 3rd. I don't want to buy just any pair of sandals... Thanks!

My favorite sandals (I have 2 pairs!) are Ecco Cosmos. They need NO break in.

Ecco Cosmos

They are expensive though. Around $125. Some websites have them for $99 (www.nordstroms.com) and ebay has them too. That's where I got mine for $35 and $63. You can also get them in special shoes stores like the Walking Co.

They are the best walking sandals ever. They have a special cork heal that absorbs shock. The sole is made of this wonderful soft material that feels like moleskins!! My feet never feel hot and I do NOT get blisters anymore. The special sole/heal helps prevent moisture as well.

I used to always get blisters and now I don't!

Good luck!

I don't like Tevas becuase they stopped providing decent arch support - my feet are very flat, and I HAVE to have good arch support in any shoe/sandle.

I recently bought a pair of Chaco sandles, that have great arch support - I haven't gotten them broken in yet (and I leave in Aug too!), but they are very comfy.

They were also expensive, around $80, but well worth the price.

I tried the Ecco sandles that the other person recommended, and didn't like them due to the lack of arch support (I guess I'm just fussy). But without good arch support, I can only walk for about an hour before my knees and back are in terrible pain.

Just a suggestion.

I got a pair of North Face sandals at the EMS in the mall....ran me $35 but didn't feel "cheap"! I did not break them in and spent 10 days at WDW walking forever in them without any problems. They are neat too cuz u can remove the strap in back if u want them to be slipons...very handy in the waterparks!!!

Merrells are also awesome. No break-in required! They have several styles including a thong style if you like that. I found mine at Dillards for $65.

Another Merrell lover here. I have a pair of clogs for the winter that I can walk in all day. Love the sandals also. Very comfy and good arch support.

I bought a pair of Nike ACG sandals a few years ago. They feel just as comfortable as my sneakers. I wear them all of the time. I absolutely love them.

I have worn my $5 GAP men's flipflops during my last 2 trips. They are a men's small with a fabric band and thick soles with ridges. REALLY COMFY, believe it or not. I didn't plan on wearing them to the parks, but the first day I got a blister from my sneakers so wore the flipflops the second day and never took them off. I have 2 pairs (black and brown) that I alternate. They were a dream. My feet usually kill me, but these seemed to work.

I have size 9 wide feet and sports sandals make me look like elephant feet.

I have a pair of Rockport sandals and I LOVE them! They have something called Comfort DMX...basically you feel like you are walking on a cloud. Also the straps are made of a fleece/like material and there are no rough edges anywhere. I bought them last year at a Rockport outlet in upstate new york for about $40 so I dont know if they still have them. But I would definately reccomend them.

Like Fantasia73, I purchased the Nike ACG Straprunner sandals last year and I love them. I feel like I get great support from them. I can wear them all day without my feet hurting. I've also worn them on long walks (2 miles +) without any problem.

A friend of mine recently bought Nike Straprunner's to replace her Teva's, and she absolutely loves em!

Thanks for all the tips! I'm going shopping today and I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I have this pair of Chaco's in black:

http://www.rei.com/online/store/Pro...0&productId=103990&parent_category_rn=4501270

Hated them the first day. Wanted Teva's and the sales person at REI talked me into these as better. By the third day I was in love.

Went and bought Tevas - cause I still wanted them. Don't wear them. Wear the Chaco's.

Warning - the have a lot of arch to them. If you aren't used to wearing arch they aren't comfortable (that was my problem). Once they get comfortable, they are great.

I ended up with Rockports. I didn't know they made sandals! I looked for the Nike's but I guess it's too late in the season for women's sandals. I wanted to try on the sandals and the closest EMS is an hour + away. The Rockports aren't the best looking sandals but if they save my feet and back some pain, I'm all for 'em! Thanks for your suggestions, everyone! (PS. If anyone will be in Disney the first full week in August, look for the woman who's sandals are ugly and don't match her clothes. That's me, say HI! )

Can't say enough about Merrell's-
for men or women-
able to be worn non-stop, don't need
to be broken in, come as shoes, sandals, or clogs
5 trips to WDW nothing but merrells or new balance sneakers

I just returned and had bought a pair of SAS sandals to wear. They were comfortable right away but they are expensive, $100. on sale.

...

I have been trying to decide what shoes to wear for our upcoming trip so I came to the boards for suggestions. Once again, you all have come through. I just tried on a pair of Merrell sandals today at DSW and fell IN LOVE. I am now trying to find a better color and price before the trip. However, I'm sure I will get them even if I have to spend the $80 list price!

Thank you all for the suggestions!

Stacy's a freak

Dillards had Ladies Merrels for $65 plus tax here. Check the website for retailers nearby.
