Hello :wave2:,

Is United the only airline that has direct non-stop service from Dulles to Orlando?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Southwest pulled its nonstops from Dulles a few years ago and JetBlue moved its nonstops to DCA last year. So yep, United is basically the only Dulles option left.

 That's terrible news! Since 2003, we went from Delta to United to Southwest (loved their rates & flexibility!) to Air Tran to Jet Blue. We enjoyed United/Ted back in the day, but now it seems like all I hear about them is how bad their customer service is :confused3.

Thanks for the information...

I noticed that too! We got a flight out of dca, non stop through airtran. I love Dulles though.

Add us to the list that misses all the nonstops out of Dulles. We use to love to grab an early nonstop out of Dulles. Now we travel to DCA and can only do the afternoon flight because it takes us too long to get to DCA. Yes, once upon a time we had many choices out of Dulles, but United is the only choice left. I remember flying FlyI and Ted, also flew SW a few times before the NS flights ended. We did fly United last October out of Dulles and home into DCA and rented a car to drive home. After flying Jetblue for years we were so spoiled. We leave later this month and again will be traveling to DCA for our Jetblue flights. We would even consider BWI, but the SW flights out of BWI to MCO are so high now....those low fares are a thing of the past. BTW, our flight on Jetblue out of DCA were $58 each way....$116 rt and that includes our luggage and seat assignments. Worth the 2 hour trip to DCA (on a good day).

When are you travelling??? I thought I got a good price on our flights! (97 each way) but airtran, of course, doesn't have any free bags, and you pay to pick a seat ahead of time. Must be beause I'm leaving early on a saturday, and kind of late on a week later.

Jet Blue out of DCA is direct and much cheaper than United. Plus your 1st piece of luggage is free. Can't beat Jet Blues customer service. It's worth the extra 30 min drive from Dulles to Reagan

I think you mean non-stop. A direct flight has stops, which is what the OP wants to avoid.

There may be an extra 30 minute drive for you from IAD to DCA, but this probably doesn't apply to the OP.

We leave April 30th and return May 18th. My DD and family got the same price and she leaves May 8th and returns May 18th. We started out at $69, but then it dropped to $58 and we got credits. A sweet deal indeed.

And moving from IAD to DCA costs us an additional hour. We can get to IAD from WV in 1 hour, but it takes us 2 hours to get from WV to DCA (and that's on a good day with no traffic or metro issues).

Well okay then so its non-stop flights. And for anyone who were traveling from IAD to DCA it would be an approximate 30 min drive not just me. It's from airport to airport not from my home to the airport.

Dca is further for us too out of Frederick md but it was a huge price difference. Will be on the lookout for price drops though!

What difference does the distance between airports make? The distance which counts is the distance from your starting point to your departure airport.

Both airports are considered Washington DC airports, but for the people who live in the DC area are referencing how far apart they are. I live about 10 minutes from IAD and about 20-30 from DCA. DCA is inside the Beltway, IAD is in the 'burbs.

Marymaya...Wow, you got a fantastic rate! My dates are 12/8 to 12/21. We normally take a taxi from Manassas to Dulles (~$55). With rates like yours, it might be worth it to use DCA. With our crazy traffic, the taxi might run over $100 :confused3, but it still might be worth it.

Everyone...Thanks for all of the responses...:goodvibes

We're in Reston and we've found booking with a flat-rate sedan service to be less of a headache than getting a cab from home to DCA.

I am so addicted to this thread. We actually had better luck renting a car for the day just to drive to the airport. We can return it at the airport before our flight. Saved about $70. We have a ride coming home since it's in the evening. We live out in the country so it's super expensive for cabs and sedan rentals. Good luck to you!

Yep, you have to think outside the box. My SIL works in Leesburg and use to just drop us off at Dulles so we didn't have to pay to park, esp since our trips are 2 weeks or longer. So now we get a ride to the metro (Shady Grove) and go to DCA, but coming home we pick up a car at DCA and drive to Dulles and our SIL picks us up after work. I normally have free day coupons with National, so it doesn't cost us anything, just our time and we have to work out the logistics of the timing.

Thanks ladies :thumbsup2,

  • flat-rate sedan service
  • car rental
  • Metro (I didn't know they had a stop at DCA)
