Non Smoking Request ?? Help

I asked for Non smoking room at the Contemporary - (Tower - MK View) in Jan. Becasue my little girl gets really congested if she is around smoke. She has allergies. I had thought since it was an allergy (medical) that it would be stated on the request and guarantee because medical but it just states that we requested Non smoking. We are paying $364 with tax a night and my husband will refuse the room if it has a smoke smell or if it is smoking because she gets really bad. She I call them? What should I do?

I would call. Our Travel Agent had our reservation noted as non-smoking due to medical reasons on our reservation. You need to have the same.

Unfortunately, non-smoking doesn't mean that no one has smoked in the room. Disney does not enforce the non-smoking rule very strictly. And, they don't make guarantees. What you need to do is when you check in, ask if it's non-smoking. Have your dh go to the room first and check it out. If it smells like smoke, go straight back to the front desk and ask that you be moved. If you are not satisfied with the results, ask to speak to the manager. Don't even bother taking your bags up, just have him or you go check first. Hopefully, you won't have a problem!

That is not true. Disney will guarantee a non-smoking room for medical reasons, I get one all the time. Call back and tell them you need a guaranteed non-smoking room due to severe allergies. You probably got a CM who was new and put in the wrong code. Non-smoking is the only request that can be guaranteed.

When I stayed at Pop Century in February, I requested a non-smoking room for medical reasons (severe asthma). We were assigned a designated non-smoking room. When we walked in the door, it was clear that someone had been smoking - and pretty heavily - in that room. They offered to spray the room with something to get rid of the smell, but that won't work for me. Even if you mask the smell of the smoke, the smoke is still there and will make me pretty sick. They said they would move us to another room, so we headed out to the park and when we returned checked in at the registration desk to find out where our new room was.

I do wish smokers would avoid smoking in non-smoking rooms! I understand that perhaps you wanted a smoking room and weren't able to get one, but please be a little more considerate of the people who come after you.

Yes, that was my only point. You can get a non-smoking room for medical reasons, but that doesn't mean no one has smoked in the room previously.

Hi - to add to this, I had to cancel, then rebook a recent booking and in my excitement (used a code, saved lots of money) forgot to ask for non smoking - so I rang back the next day and they said 'oh yes it's already on there due to medical reasons, that's guaranteed'. I don't know if it's now in my profile, or the reservations agent noticed it and transferred it. Another reason why I love Disney.

And while I agree with the smokers smoking in non smoking rooms problem - the thing that bugs me more is hotels changing smoking rooms into non smoking rooms - and then wondering why I'm wheezing at their reception desk at 3am asking to be moved RIGHT NOW. I know the sticker on the door changed 6 months ago - but my lungs can't read!!!!

The non-smoking room thing doesn't work. Trying to fight it is a losing battle. Smell the room and if it bugs you ask for a transfer.

If you're seriously allergic, take that Epi-pen to the parks. People smoke there, too. About the only place you won't find smokers is in the restaurants, and even then your server might smoke, and have it on them.

I finally called back and supposely they put on my reservation that I would be guaranteed a non smoking room. Let just hope they did.
