Thanks, Dean...I just thought I was missing something in the talks, and "being out of the loop" drives me CRAZY!!!!! And yes, I know we can (and do) speculate on ALL kinds of crazy stuff, and if the powers that be at DVC ever read these threads, they probably laugh themselves silly over the fantasyland we live in when we speculate!!!
Calypso...my new "girl" friend...VWL are a selfish lot, aren't we (gosh, I talk as if I actually own there already!!!)
But, I do like the "size envy" theory!!!

PS...Dean, where in FL are you? And, how are things holding up for you?? I am assuming you still have power.
As AP holders, we tend to be more casual about our park visits. We also spend more money in the parks at restaurants and on souveniers. We would not have spent as many days in the parks nor made as may trips from the north woods. Last but most important, we bring other people with us. These are the reason a discount for DVC members will work for Disney. If the parks become too full then Disney can build the 5th park.
my friends got married at Disney ( & live in NJ), and their renewal is priced as a Florida resident for the third year in a row.. nice deal ..i guess if you bring down enough people for the wedding they make you an honorary Floridian
In no way do I see DVC owners as "superior" to regualr guests, but I do feel that because a DVC owner has made an investment into the Disney Company, we should get some sort of perk for it. Perhaps an AP discount based on the # of points purchased? For example, if you have 0-100, a 10% discount, 101-200 a 20% discount, 201-300 a 30% discount and so on. The more "investment" in the Disney Company, the larger discount.
We're in Tallahassee. Winds here around 30 mph right now but no real rain as of yet. Actually we've been more than lucky compared to many of our fellow Americans. But no reason to change that luck now.

I tend to agree here as well. we were AP holders for a couple years and were much more casual about our park visits than when w/o AP's. Conversly, as our time in the parks decreased, the amount of money we were spending on other thing(dinner, souveniers, etc) increased.
I almost am tempted to think the discounted tickets will lead to fewer crowds as opposed to more. I would think everyone who would buy the discounted tickets is already buying non-disounted tickets anyway and instead of all these people staying all day to maximize their dollar value there might be more in-and-out type occurances. heck I dont even feel like I need to go to the parks every day with the AP.
Plus cheaper AP's will lead to more money all the way around in other areas. Ppossibly more trips to WDW per year which means more spent on food, drink, entertainment, etc. I know the 2 years we had the AP's we went 2 times per year, whereas normally we only go once a year.
