I am heading to Walt Disney World end of February 2015 for the Princess Half Marathon runDisney weekend. Pete has mentioned a few times on the podcast that if people had a problem with the rising ticket costs that they would stop going. Well, with time limited that weekend between the expo and two races (10K on Saturday and half marathon on Sunday), and limited vacation time and vacation funds I will NOT be going to the parks.

It hurts me to not go, but for $100 for a one day ticket, I just can't spend that type of money. My husband and I are trying to save for a down payment on a house. This may be my last trip for a couple of years if we try to add an addition to our family.

I plan on spending time resort hoping and spending some time at Downtown Disney. My sister lives in Orlando and will probably meet up with me for dinner at some point, and a couple of friends may or may not be in Disney for the race weekend as well. Husband will be staying at home most likely.

Anyone ever done a non-park vacation to Disney World? I would love some suggestions!

It depends on what you are into:
sports: golf, fishing, RPDE, marathon, bowling, ESPN Club, WWS/ESPN Zone, etc
shopping: DTD, area outlet malls, large scale malls
drinking: Jellyrolls, Raglan Road, monorail tour of resorts, walking tour of resorts in the Boardwalk area
movies: DTD 24 screen theater some with meals served by waiters
night clubbing: Jellyrolls, Atlantic Dance, Raglan Road, Citywalk
resort tours: monorail tour of resorts, Boardwalk around the lake tour of resorts, AKL/AKV
offsite: Gaylord Palms Resort, Citywalk, swamp tour

I'm doing something slightly similar in early June. I JUST got married and in the next few months, life is going to get real (buying a house, trying for a baby), so I'm taking one last girls trip, mainly bc I had airline credit, before any of that happens. We will be doing one day at Epcot but the rest is resort hopping.

On the agenda
Renting water mice, maybe bikes
Monorail tour of hotels
Raglan road
Jelly rolls
Big river brewery at b'walk

There is a ton of non park stuff to do. Just requires a little research :)
