Non park resort days in the winter?

We are going over the holidays and I would love to have a non park resort day(s). During the summer I would just do pool days(which I would love!) but I’m thinking it will be too cold over Christmas — New Years.

Any ideas?

Okay, then one possibility would be to drive up to Hollywood and see a movie at Disney's El Capitan Theatre. You might want to check the theater's website closer to December to see what they plan to be showing that week.

Yeah, Disney barely mentions the El Cap on the Disneyland website, so a lot of DL visitors never know about it. It's a beautiful theater, and right across the street from the Dolby and Chinese Theatres. If you watch the Oscars, you'll see the El Cap's marquee in the background during the red-carpet arrivals at the Dolby. The Wurlitzer organ is played before some screenings, and there's a Ghirardelli soda fountain on site. Fun place to visit, and of course it's right in the middle of whatever other Hollywood sights you might want to see.

The pools are heated and you never know…we could get a heatwave. One Christmas was close to 80F, it was nice but I was also looking forward to colder weather.

El Cap is a great suggestion so I would recommend making tentative plans but I wouldn’t make hard ticketed plans. It could be warm and you’ll want to do the pool or it could be rainy and you might not want to drive up to Hollywood.

I agree that you still may be able to do the pool if you want. We have done the pools throughout the fall and winter. The water is heated and the weather doesn’t usually get very cold.

I love the footprints/handprints/paw prints in fron the the TCL/Chinese theatre, if you end up near there.
