My sister and her new husband (in their 50's) live in the Tampa area, and are coming out to WDW to see us. We are treating them to a late breakfast at Trail's End. When our brunch is over, we'll have a few hours to kill. We are having dinner (just the four of us; not sis and hubby) at Artist Pointe that evening at 7, so would like to stay on property and do something fun that would be low or no cost. Last time we strolled Downtown Disney, but that's just not too fun in August! I thought of Fantasia Gardens mini-golf (AP gets 50% discount) but that could be sweltering. Can anyone think of something we can do as a party of 6 that would be free or very low cost and not cause heat stroke? Sis is on a very tight budget, and would be uncomfortable if we splurged on more than just treating them to Trail's End. We will not be going into the parks.

What resort are you staying at? Why not just relax at the pool? If you are in a large resort instead of going to the main pool you can lounge at one of the quiet pools there and spend some time chatting and relaxing? :confused3

Resort hop to the deluxe hotels? Go check out the lobbies at AKL, GF, etc.
Ride the monorail from the TTC to Epcot and back :)

There is a movie theater in DD. That I would do.

We're staying offsite at Marriott Harbour Lake, kind of a haul. Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking about just checking out the lobbies and shops in the lobbies. Epcot monorail is also a good idea. Maybe take the boat from FW to MK and get to the TTC to do that.

Thanks for the ideas. I would have been a no brainer to sit by the pool if we were staying onsite.

Take a boat ride from DTD to the Port Orleans resorts, enjoy the bar and lobby areas.
As a PP stated stroll the animal kingdom lodge. There is so much to do there.
You can also ride the monorails.

Since it's Sunday, I would check to see if HOB Gospel Brunch has availibilty. If they do I would switch to that brunch. It's a fun entertaining meal/show. Then I guess I would resort hop. I'm not really a fan of that but I guess it would be cool.

How far is your resort? The pool is probably the best option if the major goal is visiting with family. If it's too far I might even consider canceling anything at Disney. Choosing to eat near the hotel and then chill at the pool.

A movie is a good idea but not really a chance to visit.
