Has anyone tried any of the other Disney activities not relating to the parks? I often think I would like to try out horse-riding or mini-golf and my DH would try the golf or fishing but it seems very pricey.

Would love to hear of any experiences for "extras" or plans for the future.

Happy New Year!! :)

We've been riding ~ the horses are very well cared-for :thumbsup2 and it makes a nice change from the parks.

We've also played both mini-golf courses ~ both are great fun and if you play one you usually get to play the other one at a discounted rate within so many days.

Campfire Singalong with Chip and Dale followed by a movie "under the stars".:thumbsup2 A great FREE activity as FWC.

Watching the Fireworks from the Beach at the Poly with a Dole Whip, that parts not free though :)

We love to do the extras. We often will spend a day of vacation doing the non-park things. There are so many different activities hidden around Disney. The golf can be expensive, but they are great courses. The race car driving is a once in a lifetime kinda thing. But even the inexpensive options like mini-golf, horseback riding, night vision viewing of animals at AKL, or special activities at the different resorts all can be fun.

We've hired a boat from DTD, was really nice.

We've also done the winter and summer mini golf at winter summerland nr blizzard beach.

The campfire sing along at Fort wilderness is great. It was at 7pm think it is at 8pm in summer.

Not sure how old your children are but there are lots of extras like the pirates cruises. We did the princess tea party last trip and i'm going to book DD into the kids only wonderland tea party at GF next trip.

Boardwalk is nice for a stroll.

Oh and the nightly activities on the Broadwalk. I think they reduced it to Thurs-Sun though now.

This is great when the weather is warm, we grab a bite to eat and talk a stroll around, its really pretty as well on a night :thumbsup2

I love everyone's suggestions! Especially the Boardwalk. One that no one mentioned: YEE HAW Bob at Port Orleans Riverside!!! In the "River Roost" Lounge almost every night there is a Fun Family-friendly piano Man "Yeehaw Bob".....You WILL have a blast! HE does many Disney faves, Takes requests, and does TONS of Sing-a-longs. It is impossible to visit and not have a good time. Check out "Yee Ha Bob Port Orleans" on You tube.....you'll see what I;m talking about.

There are pony rides at FW for small children as well as the trail rides for older children and adults.

I am trying the trail ride next May.

There mini golf is good. We like the fantasia courses near swan & dolphin.

Have you thought about the tours? We have done several and enjoyed all of them. Some of them are suitable for children too.

Like lots of other we did the horse riding and mini-golf on our honeymoon and it was great. We stayed on site for 12 days so it was nice to get out and do different things.

We also went on the balloon at DTD which was quite nice and not many people so the guide could talk to everyone and answer questions although I did think it was a bit pricey.

We did LOTS of resort hopping too which was lovely and of course free!

Have just booked the Keys to the Kingdom tour for the week after next and I can't wait!!!!
