Is there a substance like this? Milk allergy combined with Mom not liking sugar ingestion. This is for a kid who has energy to spare! I would like her to have a treat though! Any suggestions for a non-milk, no sugar ice cream treat? Or at least low sugar? :hippie:

I have looked at menus and saw a few treats that seemed fine but I don't know about the sugar amounts. I have seen treats with no sugar but contained milk. Then milk free treats that looked loaded with sugar! Can she have both? :rotfl:

I don't want her to get sick and if she has tons of sugar which she never eats at home, it might make her feel yucky or overstimulated.

I eat Tofutti which is soy based ice cream but it does have sugar. They have no sugar added fruit bars but it is sweetened with aspartame (Equal) which I can't have

Your best bet will be to contact Brenda Bennett at the Magic Kingdom. She can give you information for all of the parks specific to your dietary needs (i.e. no milk and low sugar) here is her contact info:

I know that the rainbow colored(vanilla flavored?) dippin'dots ice cream is milk free and sugar free, not sure if Disney has any Dippin'Dots stands though...

My younger son is a type 1 diabetic and we are often offered no sugar items (like sugar-free brownies) rather than the regular ones.

Most things I can think of (like the brownies) are probably not milk free but I wanted to give you a heads up that many of the sugar free items are made with sugar alcohols which can give someone terrible bloating and diarrhea. Some people are more affected by sugar alcohols than others. If she is very used to eating items made with them at home (like malitol/sorbitol) and has no problems then you know. It could just be a bad scene if she suddenly starts eating that at WDW *and* you find out her system doesn't tolerate them well.

Aspartame and splenda type sweeteners are not sugar alcohols and we have no problems with them, but as Lisbet pointed out, they do make some people feel ill (headaches, etc. - perhaps not the bowel issues of sugar alcohols).

I also recommend contacting WDW (see the FAQ on this board) to get info about what items are sugar free and milk free. If you have sit-down ressies, note the dietary issues and ask them to make a dessert for her.

Have fun!

Chocolate is out. She refuses to even try chocolate soy milk. It must look disgusting to her!

Thanks for all the info. I am going to call right now and figure it out! I am just imagining all those cupcakes at every meal and cakes brought out for her birthday. :scared1: Too much sugar and can you imagine when she doesn't ever eat hardlly any sugar?:scared:

For the most part, they'll only bring out cakes and cupcakes if you order them. If you don't want her to have them, then don't tell the waitstaff that it is her birthday.

what about finding out if they have a fresh fruit dessert type items?
Like a bunch of strawberries or cherries? IF you have a rental car you could hit the local grocery store and have special treats to look forward to when you get back to the room.

You might want to ask if for the sit-downs, if its possible to make desserts you make at home yourself? Just to avoid a freak out factor.

bets of luck

Someone called me back from the allergy line-I didn't think they would have time to do that. So I had already called the reservation line about it. I was given great information and it was noted on our reservations. A chef will come to our table and I can let the chef know.

Fresh fruit sounds wonderful and what she usually has at home for dessrt. What I fear is that when the other children with birthdays get cupcakes or ice cream, she will be upset. So I was looking for an alternative that wouldn't make her sick.

I was emailed a list of foods (and which place has them) that are nondairy and unsweetened/low sugar. So I printed it out and will know for snacks. :)
