Non-expiring ticket question

I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked and answered, but here goes:

Short version - can I add park hopping to a non-expiring ticket? The ticket has not been used yet.

Long version - I bought a 5 day, base, non-expiring ticket from UT in the spring of 2013 with the intention of using and bridging it later that year to an AP. Plans changed and we didn't end up traveling to the World that fall as originally planned. Now I have this ticket which has been linked in my Disney Experience so I could go ahead and make fastpass reservations, but I'm wondering if it is possible to add just the park hopper add on while there? It would make my scheduling my park days much simpler.

Thanks in advance for any help!

You can add park hopping at any time, even after you've used days on the ticket. My advice is to add it when you need it.

I don't think you can upgrade them since they are no longer being sold, but I'm not sure.

Normally this applies, but as Alesia replied above, because this is a non -expiring ticket, which Disney no longer sells, I thought the consensus was that you could not add to it. Anyone know from experience?
I'd tell someone at Disney that it's still a MYW ticket if they had a problem doing it. Someone here must have tried this.

My only concern is that I don't want them to add the hopping, but lose the non-expiring ability. I'd rather just keep it as a base ticket if it comes to that.

I've yet to see a report here. I was planning try in September, but my plans are changing.
When you upgrade a ticket, they really just refund it and apply the value to a new ticket; they don't just add an option. Since there is neither a "value" to apply, nor a new price to charge, there's no telling how (or if) they'll be able to upgrade a no-expiration ticket.

I'll guess that there's a better than 75% chance that they can and will add the Hopper option.

And, as always, guests are at the mercy of the particular ticket CM with whom they are dealing.
If the first CM balks, just nicely exit, and try at another ticket location.

Thanks Robo, I will certainly take that advice!

Right now my plan is to use the ticket on my first day (which is definitely a non-hopping day) and just try to get the hopping added after that. Even if I can't get it added, I have another ticket that has hopping on it that I should be able to use.

I'll make sure to report back after my trip with results.
