Non- Disney Vacations

We love the beach, go every year for a week and then take long weekends. For the week long trip we go somewhere different, we like to explore different beaches and beach towns. For the long weekend trips we stick close to home. We also take our bikes and bike around the beach towns.

We've been all over florida and the lower east coast.

Our favs so far are St Augustine FL, Folly Beach SC, Gulf Shores AL.

This year we are taking four days at a closer beach to home in May and heading to Disney for 8days in June.

We also loved Mexico and it was less expensive than the Disney trips!

:)

Wisconsin Dells (The Wilderness Resort) Lots of fun, 6 or 7 water parks all within the resort, and tons of things to do outside the resort. And economical.

Explore a state vacations. Pick a state and travel through. Do your research and plan before the trip to see a states coolest attractions, museums, landmarks, etc. SO fun , GREAT bonding, and different every time!

We're packing our bags for a trip to Atlantis this summer!!I can't wait, we were last there in 2003 and I know that alot of construction has gone on!:cool1: :yay:

We love the Black Hills area of South Dakota - lots for young kids to do and not most of it is free or inexpensive. We generally stay in a hotel but last summer we stayed in Kamper Kabins at the Palmer Gulch / KOA campground and the kids LOVED it.

Seattle is an amazing city. St. Louis & San Antonio are great too. Maybe all cities staring w/ an "S" are wonderful.

Niagara Falls (Canada side) is also really neat.

If you want something that's completely opposite of DW, a beach vacation is the way to go. For the past 5 years we've rented a house in Nags Head and have loved every minute. Like someone else said, I would never give up this tradition.

We go with extended family who are from Florida and it's a great halfway point for everyone. Plus you can split the cost of the house and food.

We hit the beach everyday for hours and at least once during the trip I take my son to the OBX aquarium. It's small, but great for an hour or two.

We cook all of our meals at the house, just divy up days for who's doing what...The men go fishing/clammng and we cook the catch....Women and kids hit the beach everyday and after dinner we all hang out on the deck and in the hot tub.

We also do "Happy Hour" every night at the house:woohoo: since all, but my son and nephew are adults...

Most nights we're all asleep by 9:30/10pm

Also depending on where you stay in OBX the beaches aren't crowded at all (not like Jersey) it's like your own private getaway.
