non-disney resorts on disney property

I guess what I am looking for are non-disney hotels that use disney transportation (the ones that are considered on disney property). I guess they are considered good neighbor resesorts (?) besides swan/dolphin, boardwalk, etc.

I haven't been since 1980 when I was 6, so this is all new to me. I want to stay onsite, but my resent illness and upcomming doctor bills will pretty much all but sink that idea.

I am hoping that they extend FTP to the end of the year so I can take part in it for my Dec 26 to Jan 3 trip, but am not optimistic about that happening.

Even though this is a solo trip, I am looking for a place that has nice suites for a resonable price.

If anyone can help me out with some names I would really appreciate it.

The only non-Disney resorts on Disney property using Disney transportation are the Swan and Dolphin. The Downtown Disney Area hotels have their own transportation. Some of the off-property hotels offer transportation as well, but I am afraid I know absolutely nothing about them.

I hate to be a spoil-sport, but I doubt Disney will extend the Fairytale Vacation Package into holiday season. Depending on whether the economy and tourism pick up, you might or might not see some discounts, but not the same offer for free nights during the busiest time of the year.

Good luck!

I would check into the the Downtown Disney hotels and they have there own trasportation systems. It may not be as good as Disney transportion but at least it runs every 30 minutes to hour.

If you are a teacher, nurse, or government worker the Swan/ Dolphin have some very nice rates that may even be available for the Christmas break. Last year there were discounted rooms offered until Dec 24th I think, someone will remember for sure. The Swan is my favorite place to stay. The DD hotels are a completely different bus system. They do not take you all the way to the front of the MK. The busses for S/D are the same ones that all Disney resorts use. Hope this helps.:)

Disneycrazymom,

Thanks for your feedback, it all helps.

I already have a reservation at the Swan in a club level and need to trim some money from my budget so my chances of staying at the Swan is 50% at the best.

Since I haven't been to wdw since 1980, I am not sure what is around. I am currently looking at my travel guides that I got through orlandoinfo.com to see what I can find.

I am currently looking at the Holiday Inn Family Suites resort, Buena Vista Suites and Courtyard by Marriott WDW resort, which does have shuttle busses that are available every 20 to 30 minutes and from 1 hr prior to parks opening to 2 hours after the parks close, which is a plus.

I know that this might sound strange for a solo trip, but I am looking for a nice suite at one of the wdw good neighbor hotels.
I figure that if I can't stay at the Swan, then I am going to stay off site in a nice suite since I probably wont be spending all of my time at the theme parks.

Thanks,

You should take a look at the mousesavers.com, there is a report about hotel royal plaza(has suites and is in downtown Disney) and there is a special link there with a great rate. I also bought the entertainment book from that web page--which is 10.00 and has a ton of coupons including 1/2 off at the Holiday Inn Family Suites. I made reservations for a couple of nights there (on the Holiday Inn website, and used the entertainment discount) and got the rooms for $95 a night. I checked my days on the website before I bought the book to make sure the dates were available with that discount. Hope this helps.....

FYI--- Disney's Boardwalk is a Disney hotel, it's not just on property. As far as I know the only hotel, besides the deluxe's that have suites is Coronado Springs. I'm not 100% positive though- I think I read it somewhere. Good luck!:D

The Boardwalk IS on Disney property.

All the DVC resorts have one-bedroom and two bedroom units with a full kitchen. But for the time you are going, getting one of them on points would probably be nearly impossible. Even a studio would be difficult.

How about going at a different time of year when you might have lower prices or more availability?
