I posted this on the Disney resorts site because I wasn't sure where to post it. THen I found this forum. Thought it might be better to post here. SOrry for the double post.

We are contemplating staying at Windsor Hills to cut down on cost. However, besides the actual parks, what Disney resort things can we still do while still staying offsite?

I am interested in the Chip n Dale Singalong at Fort Wilderness. I am also interested at eating at Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I am also interested in eating at Ohana for dinner and watching the fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian.

Does anyone know if these are doable while staying offsite? I have heard yes but just wanted to confirm that.

Also...is there anything else we could do on Disney property without staying on site that might be fun?

You can do pretty much anything that a guest can do, other than use the pools.

You might hear from some people that you can't go to the campfire, but I have never heard of a rule that prohibits it. Certainly meals at any resort do not require any proof of Disney onsite ID. You can do the miniature golf, all the activities at Fort Wilderness, carriage rides at Port Orleans, basically anything you want.

Extra Magic Hours
Use of the pool
Free Parking at parks

beyond these 3 specific things, you can do all you want. heck, we have gone to animal kingdom lodge and spent 4 hours just walking around and eating.

We always hit up the boardwalk at night at least once.

You can eat anywhere on Disney property except the Top of The World Lounge at BLT which requires a room key or a DVC membership car.

Feel free to visit the other resorts like AKL you can go over and watch the animals on the savanna's. You can go and see the animals at the Fort Wildreness campgrounds.

Stop at the Poly and ask what time they will be doing the lighting of the torch ceremony. It free and held right at the front doors to the lobby.

all the things on your list you can do.

disney wants everyone to eat at their restaurants and shop in their stores

so you will be fine

besides what DSLRuser says - you can't use the community/activity halls at the DVC resorts.

I will add to DSLRuser's post.

Parking is free with an annual pass. :thumbsup2
