non-disney cruise questions, boards

Looks like my DH and I will finally be taking a cruise! I am sooo excited. I think we are going to go with Carnival since they have some good prices and destinations for our time frame.
I have lots of questions so I didn't know if anyone here could help or if you know of any good cruise boards. I am sooo spoiled with the Dis where it is always hopping and that's what I'm looking for. Something just like here only the focus is cruising.

Any Carnival cruisers here??

I've been on cruisecritic too. Lots of info for the reading and researching.
Don't be surprised if you don't find it as neighborhoodish (is that even a word) there as it is here. To me, the DIS is Mayberry, and cruisecritic is more Manhattan. Not that it's bad, just a different feel.

I agree with DMS assessment of the differences. There is also cruisemates.com and cruise-addicts.com. Which ship are you planning on taking? I'd love to hear a review when you return.

phorsenuf--we've done several carnival cruises and have only had good experiences on them! We've done the Holiday (when it was much younger as were we), The Destiny, The Spirit and a few other's I can't remember the names of.

Where are you going and which ship????

I'd be willing to answer any "generic" questions if you need some answers and I agree with the other assessment that cruisecritic is NOT always kind and friendly! I posted a revies (similar to the one I just posted here) awhile ago and I got so many hate emails from people because I spoke badly about "their cruiseline" so just beware...some people on that board can get downright nasty. For the most part they are helpful but if you post anything they find "negative or redundant" they will probably flame you for it.

We are looking to take the Fascination out of Miami. It will stop in Key West and Cozumel. It is a 4 night cruise and we are going in October. Its like $478. for the 2 of us. Pretty good deal I thought!

Haven't been on the Fascination, but we've sailed on the Imagination (7-day) and the Sensation (5-day), her sister ships.

I'm going to correct that quote. I just looked at Sams Club and I can get it for $464. and that does include charges!
