I posted this in another thread, but I figured it was worth making its own thread for so that it doesn't get buried. There are really a lot of great opportunities at Disney for the summer, and now is the time to be applying:

Just as a reminder, there are internships at Disney outside of the College Program. It is a very, very large company.

A couple years ago I wrote about my experience as a Summer Associate at the Walt Disney Studios as an undergraduate. I really loved it, had a great time, and learned a lot. Now I'm going to do a PI at Walt Disney World as a grad student. I know that the listing for the Studio's summer internship is up on DisneyCareers.com. Also, the Disney Interactive Media Group has a bunch of summer internship for those interested in games, from console games to cell games to social games. ABC, ESPN, and Disney Consumer Products also offer summer internships.

I'd encourage everyone interested to go to DisneyCareers.com and under "Job Posting Category" select "Internships / Associates / Co-ops."

i just looked and it doesn't seem like it's been updated for quite some time, as the newest one was posted in 2009 :(

Did you mean the job postings on DisneyCareers.com? If you search by type with the "Internship / Associates / Co-ops" job posting category selected, there are plenty of current internship opportunities. I just searched again and they pretty much all say Summer 2011. :confused3

(If you meant my thread about my summer experience, I just put that in the post so that people could read about a non-cp internship, since I posted about it back then. :goodvibes I'm not surprised it hasn't been posted in for a while.)

Thanks so much for this info. I'm definitely gonna look more into it, but I figure in the meantime I may as well ask you myself:

I'm assuming that with this, unlike the CP, there's no housing provided?

I'm gonna do some more research in the next couple days but that's just one thing that stands out in my mind (though I'm sure I'll have found the answer myself once I look into it, hehe)

Glad to hear you had such a good experience :)

I know that for mine, housing wasn't provided. Some of the summer internships will help you find housing - I'm pretty sure the Disney Interactive Media Group and Imagineering do. Most (but not all) of the internships that aren't part of the CP will be in California, in Burbank or Glendale.

Even though they didn't help me with housing, we did have a mailing list with all the incoming interns, so we were able to help each other figure out where to live and also find roommates.
