Has anyone been in Disney the week before Christmas?? We're looking into having our wedding on Thursday, December 20, 2007, and we want to be in Disney pretty much all that week prior ~ but I really want to have the wedding during a time that is not very busy, so our guests can enjoy Disney more. :wizard: I know that the very beginning of December is a pretty good time to go, but since my DH2B will be in nursing school, he's limited on his time off (his final exam week is around the 9-15 of December. I'm thinking that the parks would be getting extremely busy around the 20th...any suggestions on other times of the year which may be less busy at the parks (and not toooooo hot) - or is the 16th-23rd an okay time to go??

We love Disney at Christmastime and go just about every year. Our advice is usually to get out by Decemeber 21/22 at the latest.. around then folks start coming to settle in for the holidays and it starts getting *very* busy and very expensive. Usually around December 18-20 is when the peak season starts for rates at Disney Hotels, if you get in before that it is value season, so as long as you don't change hotels you can keep the value rate throughout your stay (up to 10 days).

Last year we had our usual pilgramage around Dec 15 or so.. and then for the first time ever I went back without DF for New Years, I got there Dec 27. I couldn't believe the difference! It was ridiculous! You could hardly get on anything, Fast Passes were given out by mid afternoon (early morning on New Year's Eve)

But that's just us.. we tend to go during the low times, after school starts in Sept., early spring, October.. we won't go during the middle of summer.. and so we have little tolerence for crowds :)

Best of Luck!

I spent 3-1/2 weeks in WDW one year for the Christmas / New Year’s holidays. I actually thought it was slightly less busy than the Easter holiday time-frame (Easter is always a zoo).

I agree with Heathrow42. As the calendar approaches Christmas Eve, Disney World becomes very crowded. The crowds last until New Year’s Day and then the vacationers begin to head home. If you can have your event a few days before Christmas or a few days after New Year’s, you’ll be much better off both crowd-wise and money-wise.

The holidays are a wonderful time to celebrate not only family but also the start of a new marriage. If you choose to go through with a holiday wedding, I hope it is ~magical.~
