Noise level with boardwalk or pool views at BWV

We are trying to decide whether or not to request a preferred view for our BWV trip next year. Our son will be 2 then, so we are wondering about the noise in these preferred view areas. Naptime and bedtime will be essential for an enjoyable trip. Does the noise from the boardwalk or pool filter into these rooms? Thanks for any advice.:smooth:

I've stayed in both Preferred view (BoardWalk), and Preferred view (Main Pool), I really did not notice the noise from the Pool ( I was on the 5th floor), unless I had the door open. On the BoardWalk side, I could hear the horns from the boats, even with the balcony door closed. But, either way, we were still able to nap in mid afternoon.

I have yet to try out the Standard view, but have plans to do that in October :D

I also have stayed on the 5th floor overlooking the Luna pool. With the patio doors shut, we never heard a sound. We were there in October, and had our patio doors open a lot, and even then the sound was not distracting.

Noise levels for BW and Luna Park views are very low when patio doors are closed. Note also that one of the preferred view areas-- the "quiet pool view"--is the quietest area on site as few use that pool and there is essentially no noise from the outside.

We just got back from BWV and stayed overlooking the Boardwalk. The only noise that we heard was the boat horns! They start early in the morning and run till late at night. You can hear the horns, w/ the door closed.
I must admit, even w/ the boat horns we loved the view!!:D

Even when having a standard view room, if you are near the canal, you can hear the boat horns. The noise never bothers any of the sleepers in my family! Enjoy.

We've never had a problem with outdoor noise in a preferred view room. This next trip will be our first time in a standard view and I'm a little worried about the noise from the busses. If it isn't one thing, it's something else to fret about ;)

We've had both standard view and preferred. The preferred view was right over the Boardwalk, on the 2nd floor. Again, with the doors shut you couldn't hear a thing and DH is a very light sleeper. The view is awesome!:p

Sorry, but I completely disagree. Brought my dd two years in a row - age 2 and 3. Stayed both times in BW view fifth floor room. Granted the view is amazing, but the noise is incredible. The boardwalk games are relentless with their bells and whistles. The boat horns are non-stop. The bars, Jellyrolls and the Dance Hall, have big crowds on weekends that seem to forget when they are leaving drunk when the bars close, that there are folks sleeping above them. Also, there is a DJ outside on the boardwalk on weekends. I think it went on until midnight. Lots of noise. Very busy. I love the view, but often feel I sacrifice the relaxation of quiet I might get by staying with a different view.

I loved the view when we stayed on the Broadwalk last July, but I thought the noise was alittle much for me. I am a very light sleeper and the boat horns really bothered me. For our August trip I have asked to be away from the Broadwalk because of this, I know I will miss the view, but I know I will enjoy the sleep.

We had always stayed at OKW but really enjoyed the BW, that is what is so great about DVC being able to experience so many different neat places.

We've stayed in both standard(Feb 2001) and preferred view rooms(Feb 1999 and June 2000). The only time noise was an issue was if the balcony doors were open, or when some fellow guests weren't quiet on their return home. My 7 year old daughters can sleep through anything, but my 4 year old daughter wakes up if you blink! All slept just fine!

Headed May 17 - 21 to OKW! CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Have fun on your trip!

We also had a Boardwalk view in February. We were on the 2nd floor right above the Grill.

Some evenings the noise of the games could be heard very clearly even with the doors shut. This really only happened at night, since the games don't get a whole bunch of business during the day.

We also heard the boat horns, which I actually like to hear.

I would recommend requesting a non-Boardwalk view if noise causes your little one to not sleep.
