Noise from Freeway HOJO Disney view room?

Hi,
We have booked a Disney view premium room in building 1 at the HOJO in May for 7 nights & have seen several threads about freeway noise & there was a link to a you tube video that someone had shot from the balcony & the traffic noise sounded really bad on it.
My question is , is it really that bad (we live on a quiet road in the uk so are not used to much traffic noise) . We have asked for a high floor & quiet room & when I spoke to in house reservations she said she would get us top floor neat the centre of the building. Are the rooms well soundproofed with double glazing etc?

If you want a quieter room, do not get one on the top floor. The rooms on the top floor have vaulted ceilings with 2 large side lights (windows). One of the windows faces the highway side, and the other window faces the Disneyland side, and I have to say, they do let in A LOT of noise, which we learned after our first stay there years ago.

Since then, we always stay at least one floor down from the top floor, and we've not had a problem again regarding freeway noise.

We had a Disney facing view this past December at the Hojo and the noise was fine. You can really hear it when you open the door to the balcony though. But when it was closed and the room was quiet you can faintly hear it. It was not loud enough to bother us or to keep me from sleeping.

If anything I would bring a small portable white noise machine if you think that could help you!

I stayed in building 1 on freeway side and let me tell you the noise with the door closed is still bad. It might be different on the disney side in building 1 but I wont stay there again in building 1 freeway side.

I will stay at the hojo again though great hotel and you can not beat the price but building 1 freeway side no way.

Its bad! I will not stay in building 1 again. We had the very last room which was right on the freeway with a Disney view. Let's just say I was extemely annoyed since I requested to be on the other end of the building and have been going to HoJo's forever.

That said, I am planning on staying there again in building 2. That building is nice and quiet.

We stayed in Bldg 1 premium disney view last summer and it was great! No noise at all (or maybe we were just too tired for anything to bug us ) We thought it was great, you can always ask for another room if the noise is terrible, but we had no problems.

It's such a subjective thing.... we stayed top floor building one (LOVE the high ceilings with the skylights!) facing Disneyland, and "noise" was never an issue with us! Perhaps the other side of the building may be noisier, I don't know, but we definately had no problem with our room. It was very close to the elevator, and we had a really good view to DL. We also live in a very small town, very quiet at night.

I always travel with those yellow soft ear plugs. We live in the country and I always forget how loud cities can be. But usually we're so tired we fall right to sleep.

I live in the country and am not used to traffic noise. I thought it was noisy, but it did not keep me from sleeping after a long day at DL We were on the 6th floor (1 down from the top) with a premium Disney view. Great hotel and while the noise is much more than I'm used to, it's not something that would keep me from sleeping.

That may have been my video you saw; it's linked in my trip report, page 5, I think. I shot it outside on our balcony from room 1713 at 7:15 a.m. (rush hour!). That's the top floor of building one, Disney facing.

As a previous poster said, it's subjective. Here's what I noticed. Outside, yes, the freeway noise is quite evident. Inside, the rooms are very well insulated. I remember waking up and listening to my DD13's quiet breathing as she slept. The room was very quiet. I could hear a far away, dull rumble, outside and in the background-- like the ocean, almost. That was the freeway. It wasn't disturbing to me at all; sort of lulling, in fact, like a white noise machine. I did have one of those along, too. More than the freeway noise, what usually wakes me up are kids running through the hallways and people letting their doors slam shut in the middle of the night ("ka-CHUNK!"). That's one of the reasons I love the top floor of hotels-- we always seem to get a room just beneath a family, who have children with the hardest little heels in the world, who are constantly running till late in the evening! The white noise maching helps mask noise like that and helps me sleep soundly.

Sorry to quote myself, but I wanted to make another comment.

Someone mentioned how the amount of noise is subjective. Well, when I said the Disney facing rooms on the top floor with the vaulted ceilings and side lights lets in A LOT of noise......that was how it seemed to me. It didn't bother my husband or my kids at all. My husband didn't even notice the freeway noise - and we live in the country. But that constant humming of cars going by on the freeway kept me awake at night. Go figure.

So, it definitely is subjective.
