Noise during construction?

Hoping someone can give us an idea of what noise is like during a rehab. I know each resort is different, but I just spoke with a CM about our WL trip next summer and he said even though they are set to go under construction (new DVC cabins?) that we shouldn't expect any noise during our stay. Could that be true? Any experience from the Poly? Thanks!

Ummm, I would be very surprised if there were no noise during construction. Now, they usually do try to keep noisy activities for times when most guests are in the parks, but we have heard plenty of noise during construction/rehabs.

It is possible, depending upon the work that they are doing during your visit, that you won't hear any noise, but I wouldn't count on it.

There's noise everywhere. In the park rehabs, resort rehabs, everywhere. It's not terrible but you'll hear it.

Someone had a post a week or so ago at WL and when they were videoing their room you could hear the jack hammer:( Debating on cancelling our WL trip in November.

Check out the WL thread and WL DVC expansion thread as there may be other options for your trip. If you still want to stick with WL, you may be eligible for compensation/discount.

If they are doing work on existing buildings or work very near the current buildings, then you will probably hear it at some point. We stayed at Poly last summer in Fiji facing the marina. They were doing work on the Grand Ceremonial Hall, including Captain Cook's & Pineapple Lanai. We couldn't usually hear it in our room. However, one night I was sitting on the balcony about 11pm, and I could hear it loud and clear, but not in the room. We did hear it one day in the room about 10am. I wouldn't do it again. Once bitten, twice shy.

We had a courtyard view last November at WL during the pool construction and we weren't bothered at all. That being said we don't spend much time in the room during the day. DH spent one day sick and slept all day and he said he wasn't bothered by the noise. I really think DH likes to watch the construction. I think it makes him happy that he's vacationing while the construction guys are working. It has to be hard working while everyone around you is enjoying their vacation.

You'll definitely hear noise, but only during the day, no resort in their right mind would schedule work overnight, so unless you have mid-day nappers in your party, or late sleepers, I don't think it will be an issue.

soniam, did you find that the resort lost it's theming bc of the construction? I wonder if it will lose some of the magic of the place if there are construction walls all around. Thanks!

It definitely lost some of it's magic. However, the amount of renovations and construction at Poly is comparable to when new Fantasyland was being built, the MK hub with its recent construction, or all of the walls and construction at AK. There is no way it could have retained all of it's magic in that situation, especially the main building and lobby. However, I am not sure if the construction at WL will be that extensive, especially to the main building.
