Nobby's Gnomies... heading to WDW in April 2010

What time of year is the marathon weekend? I would love to join all you tiara-wearing woggers but I suspect my birthday plans in 2011 will prevent me from being a part of the crew.

I figure the more people striving for 2011 the more likely we are to keep ourselves going and motivated. :thumbsup2

I'm also in!! I will be starting my training tomorrow morning I'm so excited!!! This is going to be fantastic...2011 Here I come also LOL

This year it was in March, so I am assuming that is usually around the time every year. :thumbsup2

Jen!! I have missed you so!! I am so excited everyone wants to do the 1/2 Marathon!

I have missed you too...at the end of this week though I will have two whole days of nothinginess to enjoy LOL

So how many miles is a 1/2 marathon? I'd better figure this out before I commit myself any further! :rotfl: But seriously a very worthwhile fitness goal and an "excuse" to go to WDW all in one! :thumbsup2 What more can I ask for?? :upsidedow

13.1 miles is my understanding of a 1/2 Marathon. For the Disney one this past March, you had to do each mile in 16 minutes or less or you are swept off the course.

I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner. I'll pretty much do anything for Disney so this is a no-brainer for me. I am hoping that if I can really do this that I can do a 10 day visit at a Moderate. :thumbsup2 Marc said he'd be there cheering us on. :goodvibes

I'm in! We can do it!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 And imagine the meal I can justify after wogging 13 miles! Hello bread basket, mounds of mashed potatoes, and several different desserts! :lmao:

:lmao: Doesn't it sound wonderful? Plus you get a Princess Medal for finishing! Oh and don't forget the celebratory champagne we will indulge in! ;)

Well, now, that just about seals the deal! :upsidedow

Although I just did the math and even at 16 min miles we are talking about wogging for 3 hours! :scared1:

Still worth it!! Now I want to dream about where I'd want my celebratory dinner to be. Brown Derby? Chefs with some cute waiters? Le Cellier with cream cheese mashed potato? Hmmm.. this will require some thinking. :)

Yep. 3 hours. Scary but we have over a year to train so we can do it! :thumbsup2

Oh yes, the celebratory dinner will be grand. Any of those three sound delicious. Jiko as well as I am sure it is delicious. Or maybe fancy pants California Grill..??

Hi, Gnomies!

Hi CP!! How's the weather?

Yep. 3 hours. Scary but we have over a year to train so we can do it! :thumbsup2

Ooohh... all of those sound good. And I just looked at the results from this year's race and some people finished in close to 4 hours. I think I can can do it... but am glad I don't have to try til 2011! :rotfl:

Hi CP! How's it going?

C, I agree with having enough time to train. Even if we didn't have Gnomefest next year, I don't think I could get myself ready for it for March 2010.
I think they have a time limit of 3.75 hours for finishing the race. I am not 100% sure on that though.

Does anyone watch the Tudors on Showtime? I really want to watch it but I don't have Showtime. I might have to investigate getting the seasons on DVD.

Right now (knock on wood) the weather is okay -- they keep talking about a squall line forming later this evening or tonight though. :scared: Send a prayer that it doesn't.

They are calling for snow tomorrow night. Which is way easier for me to deal with than storms. I haven't even been able to update my PTR this weekend. :headache:

I haven't seen The Tudors, but it looks wonderful -- did you ever see Elizabeth with Cate Blanchett -- that is a fantastic movie. Ralph Fiennes is yummy in it, too. ;)

Walking a 1/2 Marathon.

This is the one I am going to start with. I'll let you know how I like it. I need to start out slowly. :thumbsup2

EDIT: I am going to repeat weeks too since I have way more than 12 weeks to train. Hehehe.

I like this:thumbsup2 I may jump on the bandwagon too:goodvibes
The schedule guidelines make it seem almost too easy... :confused3

well we have about 100 weeks....it's only a 12 week so we could in essence do the same week for almost 2 months before moving up!! That may be very helpful as the walks get longer and longer toward the end:thumbsup2

Snow in Georgia? In April? Yikes, I'd better check the New England weather! I will send good thoughts and prayers for you!

100 weeks! That makes it sound even more do-able. Or rather that give me ~85 weeks to procrastinate! :lmao: I hope you join the team!!

Oh, you don't have to check the weather -- I have been watching The Weather Channel ALL DAY LONG -- New England will be getting some rain and wintry mix over the next couple of days. ;)

:lmao: You're better than the weather channel! :lmao: But a wintery mix?? In April!? :scared:

Isn't that crazy?

:rotfl: I am not kidding -- I am pretty sure I could do the entire speil that the forecasters have been doing today -- complete with arm movements and corny jokes. Sadly, Jim Cantore is not around, and I am beyond sick and tired of the muzak they play for the Local on the 8's.

All I want is seasonably warm temperatures and no bad weather -- I miss the days of Georgia's draught when there was never any rain.

Wintry mix!?! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I love that everyone is hopping on the Princess 1/2 Marathon bandwagon! :goodvibes
