No WL available 12/5-12/12-How's AKL and POLY?

I had originally planned on booking a week at WL for our Dec vacation, but I waited too long and now no luck. Instead I booked 3 nights AKL savannah conceirge and 4 nights Poly lagoon view. I have stayed at neither resort and hope I made the right choices. It is just DH and I and my Mom for three of the nights. We've stayed at CBR, POR and BWV and have loved them all (I'd love Motel 6 as long as I got to go to DW-LOL!) Any insight to these resorts would be much appreciated. I'm thinking a dinner at Boma's, and one at O'Hana but other than that I'm open to suggestion.

Hi! If you like the WL, you'll like the AKL; we think they're pretty much the same resort, except one has animals. The lobbies are very similar in decor, as are the rooms, since they were designed by the same people.
I think that the Polynesian is different from both of these resorts, from what I have seen. We haven't stayed there yet, but it is on our list of resorts to get to eventually. If you like the WL, though, I think you probably will like the AKL. The rooms at the AKL are a bit darker, but there's not a huge difference between the two, except for the animals.

You made some good choices. AKL is great - like hmp2z said - the architecture is nearly identical to the WL, just different colors and decor. And there is nothing like getting up early in the AM and sitting on the balcony in your PJs watching all the animals. Really fantastic. You'll love Boma, for dinner or breakfast. Plus, if you planned the days right, you can sign up for the Sunrise Safari at the AK.

While older, the Polynesian is very good as well. With the Lagoon view, you will be able to see the MK. And fireworks if they have them during your stay.

You will definitely have a couple of new favorites after your stay.

We stayed at the WL last Christmas season....we made a visit to AKL and the buffet one evening and agreed that we would never have a problem staying there...

The atmosphere is very similar to WL (a bit secluded and quiet) and very woodsy feeling and beautiful...we've never stayed at the Poly, but it's not one of the resorts that's tops on our list to visit....

AKL is one of my absolute favorite resorts. It seems to me of those you listed, it is the most like WL.

Thanks for the insight!! I'm getting more and more excited about my choices. I did check and I can go on the sunrise safari the sat I am at AKL. After reading more on the boards, I booked a CP dinner package for Sunday night and MMVMCP for Monday night. We'll be at the poly on those nights so transportation should be a breeze. We plan to just relax at AKL and truly enjoy being on a vacation and with all the help from these boards it should be a truly magical one!!!
