We just got back from OKW - had a great time! But my kids were so disappointed! Right before we checked in, we got 3 tapes to take back to the room. We have always stayed in a 1 bedroom, but we were short on points, so we stayed in a studio. We didn't know there was no VCR - called guest services to see if they could get us one & explained kids were disappointed.

No VCR & no call back from Guest Services either!!!

As far as I know, none of the DVC resorts has a VCR in the studio - it's been that way since day 1. Sorry to hear about the kids disappointment.

That is true, no studio has ever had a vcr.

The studios were never meant to be the bane of DVC life. They were basically meant to be the second bedroom of a two bedroom.

The Inn Rooms at Vero have VCR's - but not sure about the studios.

There was a thread about this back in February, I believe.

In July 2001, the 2 BR lockoff we stayed in at OKW had a VCR in the studio.

We also stayed at Vero Beach last year and the studio did have a VCR.
We've stayed in a 2BR lockoff at VB each summer since it has opened and there have always been VCR's in the studio rooms. We were told by the manager there that since there is not as much nightlife there as compared to WDW, the decision was made to put VCR's in the Studios at VB.

We got a VCR for our studio at BWV when we were last there in March. We called down to the front desk and someone from housekeeping brought it right up. We had brought vcr tapes from home for our 2 kids.

All the studios have a kitchenette in them, it's obvious Disney intended them to be more than just the second bedroom. Disney did not mean them to be the "bane" of DVC life that's for sure since bane means ruin, death or harm and the studios are anything but that. :)

HH and Vero studios have VCRs.
Over easter break we were at OKW> my son loves getting "free" videos and when he went "home" to watch his first selection was very upset that our tv was missing the vcr. He asked at guest relations and called housekeeping. Dad later followed up and they said none of the WDW properties had VCRs available!

you can rent one from blockbuster - I think someone say it was $7 (don't know if this is a day or week rental)

It's nice to see this change at Vero - last time we stayed in a studio, it did not have a VCR (which was a few years ago).

Thank you ilovebwv, well said. On some trips, a studio works out very nicely for us, and allows additional options with our points. The kitchenette has been just enough, as most of our time was spent at the pools or in the parks.

I am also glad that VCRs are available at Vero, makes good sense. Given our arrival day will be in an Inn room before we switch to a villa, we'll probably watch a video late in the evening.

We rented one last year at the Blockbuster on the Central Florida Parkway (SeaWorld exit on I-4, maybe 15 minutes from BWV). It was $10 for 7 days. I don't think they had a one day rental. They didn't require a deposit (not sure if this is the case if you don't have a Blockbuster card which we did).
