No Standard AKL Rooms in Jan?

My travel agent just gave us a quote for our January trip and I hope someone can answer my question. My husband and I are sharing a concierge room with my sister and we have a friend going that wants to stay in a standard room. The TA said "(NOTE: There were no standard-view rooms available for these dates, but they may become available later – they typically hold out those rooms until the others have sold, I think.)". Has anyone heard of this? We're just trying to decide if we should book him in a cheaper hotel or book the savannah room and hope they release the standard rooms so we can downgrade the reservation.

I've never heard of that. You might want to check online to see what comes up. They could become available later on though. People cancel or perhaps if there are ap rates or other discounts, they will upgrade to a different category. I know when we booked our trip for December there were no poolviews available and then a couple days later there were. I would check online to see what you can find.

they are booking standard rooms for their CL level. Looks like a remodel is on the books, as CL level guests will not be in deluxe rooms in Jan 07. I spoke with CRO several times, and spoke with CL staff, and they have all confirmed this.

I don't know if there will be standard rooms for standard price in Jan. I booked a CL room which stated I will be in a standard room. The only good thing is I got almost $100 off the CL price as they only have standard rooms to book.

I checked a date in June today. I was actually looking at how much the price has gone up for us and there was a standard room that I could have booked without CL. With CL taking some that pool is even smaller now.
