Does anyone else think it is strange that both of these rides will be down for refurbishment at the same time? I am so sad :(....this will probably be my only trip to DL.

When are you going? Disneyland is notorious for changing their rehab schedule, so if it shows as both down now that could change, especially if your trip is a ways off. Don't give up hope yet! :)

If you look at their web site for January they have about 10 rides closed for rehab in January most of them are in fantasyland but the number is amazing for one time period

I was looking at early March and noticed both Space & Splash being down as well as the carousel. It looked like the week before Easter, everything except 2 were open back up.

I just checked the website for January too, and I was shocked at all the attractions that are scheduled to be closed. I have copied the list below. The list is identical for all the days I will be at the resort.

This will be my first trip to Disneyland, although I have been to WDW more times than I can count, and in the past year I have been fortunate enough to visit the Paris and Tokyo parks. I'm really disappointed. I hope the schedule changes somewhat--I was REALLY looking forward to seeing the Disneyland versions of Pirates and some of the other attractions and comparing them to the other parks. I guess it will give me a good excuse to come back soon!

Disneyland Park

Refurbishment Schedule

Country Bear Playhouse
Splash Mountain
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Fantasyland Theatre
it's a small world
King Arthur Carrousel
Peter Pan's Flight
Mark Twain Riverboat
Blue Bayou Restaurant
French Market
Haunted Mansion
Pirates of the Caribbean
Fantasmic!

I'll be in Anaheim March 11-16th. I'm not giving up hope :)

At least it is not Indiana Jones, since WDW has both a Space and a Splash.

Wow - what is wrong with Disney?? I wouldn't expect them to ALL be closed, though - I don't think that many major attractions have ever been closed at one time. They are probably shuffling their schedules around and haven't been taking attractions off the list as they add to it.

I hope that these all actually won't be closed. I've been checking March 10-15, and it looks horribly with the number of main attractions closed at DL. Sadly, I've had thoughts of cancelling. Hope that Disney gets this corrected soon if it's really a mistake.

Just some info on some of the closures..

The Country Bear Playhouse is closed to put in a new Pooh attraction
Fantasmic is becoming seasonal and not every night

But wow I can't believe they would have all of that refurbing at the same time what a bummer. When we went this past April/May the Matterhorn was closed and I was so disappointed. Oh well, we'll have to plan for another trip.

The schedule does change as Indiana Jones was supposed to be closed when we went, but it was open. They made that change about a week before we went.

Let's look at the list this way

Closed and they're building a new ride
Country Bear Playhouse

Unless it's an exceptionally busy time they only have one boat running
Mark Twain Riverboat

These are shows and fantasmic hasn't run since sept, and the fantasyland show closed in Oct, with a holiday show being shown
Fantasyland Theatre
Fantasmic!

These are down so that they can change them back from their holiday costumes
it's a small world
Haunted Mansion

These are down for their annual rehab, they do some between xmas and easter, then some between easter and summer, then they usually repeat the process after summer between summer and thanksgiving and thanksgiving and xmas. (or some are only down once a year instead of two times)
Splash Mountain
King Arthur Carrousel
Peter Pan's Flight
Pirates of the Caribbean

These are restuarants, and if Pirates is closed for refurbishment they will also close blue bayou
Blue Bayou Restaurant
French Market

Well, sure enough, as several suggested the schedule has changed! I'm sure it will change again, but this looks more promising for my trip:

Disneyland Park

Refurbishment Schedule
Country Bear Playhouse
King Arthur Carrousel
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Peter Pan's Flight
Sleeping Beauty Castle

I appreciated all the info on why particular attractions are closed. I still hope that this schedule holds rather than the one I posted earlier :)

Thanks Endor. But, now I am confused. Why the massive changes? The dates of my trip went from having Space, Splash, Pirates, Blue Bayou and a handfull of Fantasyland rides down to just the following:

Country Bear Playhouse
King Arthur Carrousel
Sleeping Beauty Castle

But it is definitely good news!!!

:D :D :bounce: :bounce: :D :D

Disneyland just changes things... No one really knows why.

Also, the website can be misleading. When I was there last month, up until the day we left, the website assured us that Peter Pan would be closed. When we got there, it was open, but Sleeping Beauty's Castle was closed. Go figure.

This is great news! I was somewhat depressed at the huge lineup of rides on the rehab list. This new list looks a whole lot better.

We'll be there the week of March 10th. Haven't been since 1989. Ok. I'm thinking somethings have changed a little.;) :bounce: :) :bounce: :) :bounce:

What site are you on that shows this rehab schedule? I am going down to Disneyland the first weekend in March and my source says they will be open. I would like to check out the site you found the schedule on, thanks. Have a Disney Day!!!:earsgirl:
