Looks like European style no-frills-and-we-mean it airlines are coming to the US. In Europe, you can fly between many cities for almost nothing - the airlines make their money selling stuff to captive customers. Such airlines aren't for everybody - but its a nice option for those people (and college students) who have to save every possible penny.

Here's a link to Skybus's "Rules of Flying": http://ask.skybus.com/about/rules-of-flying.shtml . They seem to have a sense of humor about it. I like the bit about not bringing food on the plane "unless you brought enough for the whole plane."

Flying for almost nothing has already been tried in the U.S. (except the forbidding of bringing one's own food) and airlines have declared bankruptcy as a result.

Child: "Waah! waah! I'm hungry."
Parent: You'll have to wait until we get off because I didn't bring enough for everyone on the plane.
Seatmate: "Okay, I'll buy for everyone in the plane if you will shut that kid up."
