No SLR's but what would you reccomend...

okay okay okay...
so the image noise isn't sounding too lovely.
Do you believe canon S3s are better in pretty much all categories?
-less noise
-more zoom
-image stabilization
-capable of good low lighting/nighttime shots
???

my daughter has a canon ( a600 or 610, never can remember which, one is 5mp she has the 7)... the sensor is the same as the s2 is and she has very little noise. i've seen pictures she has taken in low light straight from the camera and unless you were enlarging to them 8x10 or so i don't think you'd even need to use a noise program.

just wondering because I have a canon powershot a520 and its served its purpose, but I'm ready for an upgrade.
I also kind of noticed that my camera didn't have all the nifty seetings like the fireworks setting.
Should I upgrade on canons or try a new brand?

I have both the A620 and S3, love them both. I love the S3 for the zoom and push button video capability and I love the A620 for the compact size and I like the picture quality of the A620 slightly better than the S3 but both are great cameras. The swivel LCD is a nice feature as well and I *think* that's exclusive to Canon.

I really don't think you can go wrong with the A6x0 or A7x0 series or the S2/S3. I paid $427 for my S3 back in the spring and you can now get it from Dell for $319, great price!! (That's if the Dell deal is still running)
