If someone fails to check-in for their reservation is it released?

We will be in Florida next weekend driving around our new motorhome and I'd love to stay the night at the Fort -- of course it's fully booked being a holiday weekend. I'm wondering if I call Disney on Saturday morning if they would have released any Friday no shows, or do they just leave the sites empty?

Since people with room-only reservations can cancel up to 5 days before arrival and still get their deposit back, you might luck up by trying around then and picking up a cancellation.

1) If the ressie has not been canceled, the space/room/site at any WDW resort is not released.
2) It is assumed the guests will still arrive for all of the paid nights.
3) After all, if you were delayed for some reason, you sure don't want your space given away.
