Royal Oak was one of the 1st to cancel. I was pretty surprised. They don't normally do such things? I wonder if we got a new superintendent. Of course most of our buildings are old and can be hard to heat when it is this cold. Still most districted followed suite this morning.
Of course at my DD's school there is no dropping off at the door. The school parking lot is too small and there never enough room. We end up parking in the street around the block and walking her in (dragging her little sister with us) so I am pretty happy about no school!
We're closed in Northeast Ohio. This is the first day my district has been closed in eight years! It's funny because we're a small suburb completely surrounded by Cleveland and they've closed a couple of times over the last couple years. It's always a pain to listen to the kids complain that schools that are a five minute walk from ours are closed but we're not. Don't have to do that today though! We did have one day that we closed because our school had no electricity. The principal called and asked us to come in to help with crowd control because it wasn't on the news until after some of the kids would have already left. We were only supposed to be there to tell kids to go back home (we only have eighth graders in our school) and then we could leave. Well, when we got to school the electricity was back on so we ended up having school anyways.
No school here in Madison, WI either. The thermometer on the house says -18F. I would prefer a snow day where my DD could play outside. Now, we're stuck inside with endless Sponge Bob ...
That must have been awful! Yeah, Bascom can be pretty treacherous, especially when it's snow/ice covered. I guess it's pretty fun to sled down it on lunch trays though!
I wish they would cancel school for my kids. It is so cold. I work 3rd shift tonight and tomorrow it will be nice to be able to go home and go to sleep instead of having to get them to school.
Yeah, it doesn't look like they will cancel classes tomorrow here either. UW-Steven's Point had classes cancelled today though, lucky them! Anyway, I think it's supposed to be less cold tomorrow--wind chills in the 0 to -6 range around midday. It's going to feel like a heat wave! According to the Weather Channel, it's supposed to be 32 degrees on Valentine's Day. I bet half the guys on campus will be wearing shorts to class at that point!
Wow, no school again today. I wonder if we actually get some snow if they'll just shut down for the rest of winter??? lol My kids are loving it though. I wish I could stay in my nice warm bed, but unfortunately, they don't close the bank because it's too cold, darn it.
No school again here. We are going a bit stir crazy. I feel if it is too cold to go to school, we should stay home. Not sure if I am going to be able to do that though. We do need some things from Target.............
