Hey!

I'm somewhat confused because on wdwig it says that only WL does not accept faxes, but that other resorts do. On the other hand I have read a few posts here that say no faxes at all?

I know that even if you send a fax nothing is set in stone or along those lines, but we still wanted to get a location in the resort near the main building.

Thanks

Well a CM who worked at CBR posted before that they paid MORE attention to faxed requests than requests noted on your reservation.

I do both- I fax and make sure its noted on my reservation. And I've always gotten my requests on every trip.

I figure it doesn't hurt anything to fax- I mean the absolute worst thing that could happen is that they throw the fax out and you are no worse off than not faxing at all.

For our May trip I requested specifics when I made the reservation and faxed a week before our trip. There are two adults and four children in our family so we needed connecting rooms.

We did our first split stay, I did not get the requested section (AB) at POR, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise because Magnolia Bend is beautiful! We did get connecting rooms.

We did get our request with an added bonus at CBR. I requested Martinique. We got Martinique, water view, connecting rooms with one corner room!! :cool1:

So sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't!!
:confused3

If you have your requests noted in your reservation there is no need to fax. Just call reservations and have them added.

Having read a lot of posts on this from CMs and people who asked. It appears that most faxes are filed in the round circular file under the desk. Now if it is a very slow check in period it might help, but if it is a busy time I think they are just ignoring them.

Don't bother with a faxed request. Just be sure to have your preferences noted on your reservation and save work for both yourself and Disney.

I don't think it hurts to send a fax. It was a long time ago, when faxes were popular, but I asked to be put in the same building we stayed in prior at the GF, and they honored that. AND, it was a concierge building (I didn't even know) because of the renovations in the main bldg. Would have never gotten concierge if I didn't send that fax.

Two trips ago, I send a really "fun" fax to the CR about "anything better popping up on their computer screen" and what it would mean to my two little girls, and when I checked in - we received a MK Tower room!!! :goodvibes (I only paid for a GV). I was so excited I almost cried right there!!!

Last year, I didn't receive any special upgrades, but so what.

This year, I'm gonna try again. If I get it, I get it. If not, so what. I don't think it hurts to try. And I don't care if other people say don't do it!!!! :)

Good luck,

Anna

I have read from several CM's that they changed their system and while faxes were noted in the past that they simply now go by what is downloaded into the computer by CRO. They aren't typing the fax requests in and they sure don't have them on file. It isn't their fault - they just started receiving too many so now they get tossed in the trash can. To those who have RECENTLY faxed and got your prefernces I'm very happy you got what you wanted but the fax wasn't what did it. A lot of CM's will do what they can for you at check in though. If it makes someone feel better to fax then go for it, but I hate to see someone get their hopes up that they will get their request if they fax. It's just not true any longer. In fact, after a p.m. I had with a CM on this subject I didn't fax for fear of ticking someone at the front desk off by sending them extra paperwork they can't and don't want to deal with.

I read on another board that they do pay attention to faxes sent in no more than 4 days before your arrival.

How long before your arrival did you send your fun fax to CR?

Now last time I was at WDW 8 yrs ago. I was told that CM's got the paperwork 24-48 hrs before arrival and that is when rooms are assigned. At that time I called 48hrs before and ended up getting what I requested MK Tower room whereas friends we went with did not bother calling and got tower room facing bay.

The official DVC website has a notice not to fax requests as only those requests noted on the reservation at booking will be considered.
