No reward for referring a friend

Since this program's rules are so vague, I thought I'd run it by you guys. Last fall, I referred 2 neighbors to DVC who eventually decided to join. I received an award for the one family right away, but nothing ever came for the second family's referral. When I inquired MS about it, they thought it was because I hadn't filled out a referral card when I referred them, but I told them that I hadn,t filled out a card for either family, and yet was still payed for one of the referrals. I asked the neighbor that I referred to check with her salesperson. The salesperson told her that I was not eligible for a reward because a few years ago, my neighbors had stopped by a DVC booth while on vacation and were registered at that time, although at that time, they decided they were not interested. Has anyone ever encountered a situation like this? When they finally joined, the representative asked them who referred them, and they of course said it was me. Since I'm the one who actually convinced them to join, I feel I should be compensated. I wish that MS would come out with a clear cut set of rules regarding this, but this whole program is not well advertised.

A couple of people have mentioned this on the board before. I guess that's the rule. If they even call and just ask about DVC and don't buy but you convince them later there is no referral reward. Kind of stinks when a rep can't make them interested enough to buy but you do later.

The program is not even offered in many states, but the purpose is to provide new contacts for DVC to talk with.

In the situation you describe, obviously- even though you may have "made the sale", the family had already been through the program and was technically off limits for the reward program.

I have referred many people and always receive a nice "Attaboy" and "Thankyou", but nothing more as Indiana is not eligible for any rewards. I always enjoy the satisfaction of seeing others pleased with the DVC program (although a few Disney $$ would be nice too!)

;)

We originally took the tour in 1996 or 1997. We did not like or feel comfortable with the guide we had and also felt that he misled us. We elected not to buy in at the time, partially because of him, and partially because of some changes goingon at our jobs that could have turned our bad (luckily they didn't). We kept it in the backs of our minds and evry now and then tried to see if would fit in the budget at the time. Finally, last spring, we decided to do it. the time was right, jobs were doing well, finances better, and we got a different guide. We were going to try and get the referral credit for one of our friends, but we were told that since we had taken the tour 3 or 4 years prior, that we were "already in the system" and thus our friend would not be able to receive credit. We specifically tried to get it for them , and we couldn't. So the opposite problem occurred with us.

I have referred two people to DVC and received nothing because Minnesota is ineligible for referral bonuses

The only satisfaction I get is knowing that they now get to enjoy the Disney experience for a long time to come. I can settle for that :D

Hi, Eck45. I see you are a fellow MN DVCer. We also referred people and got a nice little "thank you for referring them" letter. It's printed on pretty paper, but that's all the people in MN are allowed to get as compensation for referring people.
