I asked what do you use when you make your own autograph book? I only see scrapbooking books around anymore. I don't see anything that is an acutal autograph book. I know they sell them at WDW, but I was going to give my kids stuff to make their own. Do I just use a little scapbook or what?:confused3 Can I use an actual photo album and just make sure the pen can right on the plastic that covers the photo? I am thinking have the characters sign their own blank page but the add my own picture of that character to the book too. I was really hoping to put these things in my kid's Easter baskets so I only have today or tomorrow yet to find something. I posted a few days ago on the DISigns board and also bumped the post up once but still no replies. I hope I get better response here even though it is not quite the right spot to ask the question. If you can't tell, I don't normally do scrapbooking so I have no idea where to start. Thanks.

We bought the ones at Dis store at a big discount one year...they had sleeves where you could put a picture in on one side and the other side was for signing, I LOVED this idea...if you wanted to make your own, just mark out a rectangle (4x6) on one side of your scrapbook so they don't sign in the space where you can put the picture...you may just want to glue a border frame on one side and write "picture of character" or something, so they know not to sign there...my kids still look at them all the time, if it were just signatures they wouldn't care to look at them..

HTH!

I know what you mean about the people over on that board.... I guess they only want to chat with people that really know what they are doing, and don't want to waiste their time with "unknowers" like us!!! I've posted questions several times on there, and never recieved a responce either, so don't feel bad!

Well, thanks. I love this group so much I was suprised I didn't get any response. I like posting to the family board and the budget board mostly. I did post to the DISigns board about how to do iron on transfers and I did get a response to that question. I have actually wondered if there was a way for us to delete our own posts if no one answers after so long?

I am just excited for my kids to design their own autogragh books. My 8yo is an artist that takes art class every week. He can draw the 101 dalmatians easily and it looks like the origional. My other son is only 3 but I sure he will like making his own too. I figured it would give them something to do while waiting for the trip to get here and help keep them excited about it in the mean time. I got them some glitter glue and some markers and stickers to put in their Easter baskets that they can use to make them (or a count down calendar) We will be going in June.

DS just has a spiral notebook (5x7, I think) with a vinyl cover. The pages are blank (no lines) and he used Disney stickers to decorate the front.

Of course this is a very simple autograph book, not a fancy one. And he's a boy, so he didn't really want anything too complicated! :rotfl2:

Have you looked at the Disign boards?

I have seen a bunch of people that have made autograph books and they show pictures of them.

HTH.

We went really cheap! We bought 3x5 spiral-bound neon index cards. Each girl used Disney stickers and letter stickers to decorate the covers, and we covered that first page with contact paper.

We LOVED these little books. The index cards were nice and sturdy to hold and to write on, and the sharpie pens didn't soak through the pages.

I also got the spiral bound (I think it's 7" x 9") books at A.C.Moore (we don't have Michael's). They have really thick pages. I also bought a block of scrapbook paper in different colors. DD (6) picked out colors and I "borrowed" a ton of autograph pages from DISigners and printed 6" x 6" on the colored pages she chose. She glued the colored sheets in the book on alternating pages - that way the character will sign one side and she can put in the picture of her w/ the character on the facing page.

I also got her a ton of scrapbooking stickers - obviously princess etc, but also they had a wide selection of countries - most of the Epcot countries, as a matter of fact. We'll have CM's write in the other book that I got her and decorate the pages with the appropriate stickers when we get back.

I am also thinking of making my own autograph books...Michaels is a great place to find things to make one. If you do go to the scrapbooking area you may find a blank spiral bound book with thick pages. I plan to use one side for the autograph and the other side for the photo. You can buy Disney scrapbooking pages, stickers, etc to decorate the pages too. I have Disney princess ribbon to tie to the spiral binding.

If you want to use a photo album, you can buy a smaller spiral notebook/notepad to carry around and sign and then take it out and insert into a photo album page. I found really cute Disney notepads at the Dollar store that would make for cute autograph pages.

I was bummed today to not find an autograph book at my local disney store, so I think I'm gonna have to help my kids make their own also. I like the foam one from Michaels it looks perfect.

I highly recommend the Canson spiral books you can find at Michael's, AC Moore, etc. They're plain so you can decorate them with stickers - maybe a fun Easter afternoon project when you're trying to keep the kids out of the candy?

I'm making one for DD to use on our June trip.

I bought blank 4x6 index cards, on each card I printed a picture of a character and I'm going to throw some blank ones in for any characters we run into that I forgot about. I'm then going to laminate the cover and the back (I have access to a liminater at DD's school) and take the book to be bound at staples.

I found one of those foam spiral books with card stock pages in the craft section at Wal-mart (note the lime green!:thumbsup2) The stickers either came from Wal-mart or Michael's, and I had fun with some ribbon I found at Wal-mart. It worked great!

In defence of DISigns folks..... Alot has been happening on that board lately. Many of the designers, and there were many, are no longer around on the board (some threats of lawsuits by Disney lawyers, personal illness, being overwhelmed with the work of designing etc...). This means that for the few designers who are there, they are completely swamped with requests. The board may be a little different that you thought. It's mostly for computer generated graphic design. Anything that is crafty and involves cardstock, stickers, and Michael's is usually not handled in DISigns. There is a scrapbooking board that might be more what you're after. In further defence of the DISigns people, whenever I have made a request for a design, I have never waited longer than 24 hours for the completed image to be sent to me and these are computer graphics that were created and personalized just for me. I just wouldn't want the board to get a bad rap when in fact they are a super generous bunch. Anyone who would spend hours generating a logo or picture just for me is a pretty great person IMHO. It's not a great place to get a response about something that isn't directly related to graphic design, the designers are just too busy I suppose. Take a look around the board for lots of amazing original graphics...you can use anything you want for yourself. I really love those guys and of course the family board also rocks!!

I found a book at Michael's that is like a board book, but the pages are plain. I'm going to embellish it and use that.

nonzerosum, I had origionally posted a question on one of the other boards here about an autograph book, and how to go about making one and was directed to the DISign board thru a link. Before that, I didn't even know it existed. I asked about how to make an autograph book on that board because I saw a thread that had a bunch of premade autograph page things to print out so I surely don't think my question was unrelated to that board.

You don't have to defend them to me. I am not trying to give them a bad rap. I was just in a bit of a hurry to try to figure out what I wanted to use to make the books (still haven't found anything but a regular photo album), so that is why I had to post it here since no one over there was answering. As I said, I wanted to find something that I could add to my kid's Easter baskets.

If you read my reply above, I did defend the DISign board and said that I posted a different question and they answered that and that I was suprised the other question didn't get answered even after being bumped up.

I make siggy tags all the time. I LOVE doing it. I use paint shop pro. I KNOW how long it can take to make just one thing. And I totally understand the copyright issues and stuff like that. I also know how life can get in the way! I haven't been able to make much of anything for the last month or so because of both of my boys being sick.

If I wasn't in such a hurry to get some ideas, I wouldn't have even bothered to post the question here, but since I did post the question here, I also wanted to let people here know that I did post it to where I thought was the appropriate board so I wasn't told that the family board was not the right board and that I should try the DISign board again.

thewesterberg, I have to say I love Noah's book! Right now I just got some glitter glue and some stickers and markers along with 2 regular small photo albums. I am going to let them see what they come up with. I guess I still have time to get something else if I get more ideas later.

Thanks! Thought since I had the picture I might as well show you instead of trying to explain it! Hope your kids have fun making them - what a fun project!
