No NYC to Bahamas on fall 2020 itinerary. So bummed out. :(

I was hoping that would be the staple itinerary from NYC if they continued to sail out of there. I love the 4 sea days. Eyeballing Bermuda, but I have gotten so spoiled by the 7 night cruises, 5 nights just doesn't seem like it would be enough. Hopefully, enough people will grumble, it will return for 2021.

Yes, I had clients waiting for those Bahamian itineraries with the day at WDW from NYC in 2020 and they were disappointed, too. Frankly, I would be interested in this itinerary for my family, too, some year! I vastly prefer 7-night sailings or longer. My understanding is that they were pretty popular sailings, especially over school breaks, so I am surprised not to see them on the schedule. Maybe the 5-nights have been more popular.

I registered just to say this! We’ve been planning on this trip for two years as it’s to celebrate a milestone birthday and I am so upset with the available options. I’m considering the PR itinerary but the costs so far seem high especially with the added expense now of needing to fly back to NYC. Would Bermuda be worth it for just 5 nights?

We have done 2 of those itineraries and loved them! We were hoping to do it again in 2020....very disappointed. The Magic only seems to be in NY for about a month. Last year they were here much longer.

It should be back in 2021. 2020 they get to NYC late because of the dry dock.
This is my guess, too. I don’t know if DCL had to make a commitment to Bermuda, but that may be part of the decision to skip Port Canaveral in 2020. Also, since the Bermuda sailings are only 5 nights, they can squeeze more sailings into a shorter period.

Bermuda seems to be quite popular, and the pricing, even considering late season, is rather high. It was surprising not to see a 7-night NYC-Bahamas roundtrip, as it has been a staple NYC itinerary for most cruise lines, but it looks like this year's dry dock caused quite a bit of reshuffle.
I had hopes for Columbus day Bermuda itinerary to repeat in 2020 (kids get a 5-day break in school - we did the first Bermuda itinerary in 2018 for the same reason) - but with Magic just arriving at the city that weekend, the entire Bermuda schedule isn't workable. Between that and the lack of 7-night Bahamas, there will be no 2020 fall cruise for us.

I have done both the NYC-Bahamas and NYC-Bermuda itineraries. We love cruises that are at least 7 nights, but Bermuda was great because there's an overnight on the island. You don't feel like you are rushing port to port. I was considering taking one this fall as a solo.

I'm sorry that there aren't any NYC-Bahamas cruises scheduled for fall 2020. We weren't planning on one, but I feel for those who had their hopes up for it.

But no Castaway Cay on the 5 day Bermuda. :sad2:

So glad to hear this theory. I was concerned they were permanently cutting back on NY cruises. We just started doing them since we live 40 min from the port. So nice for a quick getaway and much cheaper for us. Any word on what they are doing to the Magic?

DCL has a agreement with NYC port. DCL will have a minimum of 200,000 passengers during the 5 year agreement. On a closed loop cruise you are counted twice. On one way cruises you are counted once.

I'm bummed about this too and have ruled out NYC-San Juan because I just don't want to deal with the expense/hassle of flying with kids back from PR. I don't care about Castaway but a RT NYC cruise with a day at WDW would have been perfect. Considering Halloween Bermuda now. After our seemingly endless travel day home from Vancouver, all I want is to take a trip where I can step off the boat and then take a cab home. Long flights with young kids are just such a pain even if they sleep some and are relatively well-behaved. I think my DH will prefer the Bermuda cruise to a WDW trip. I just wish Fall 2020 WDW packages were out already so I could do a cost comparison. Pretty sure the cruise will be more even factoring in meals, but the flights might tip the balance.

I really wanted the day at Disney too! I can’t put off celebrating the birthday one extra year or else I might have. These itineraries just seem like second thoughts. I think I may be in agreement about the hassle of flying from San Juan too. We are 45 min from port and it would be so easy just to take a car and be home.

I wanted NYC to the Bahamas too since we already did Bermuda and Canada from NYC withDisney. I just booked the 5 night to Canada on the Magic from NYC for Oct 2020.
