No NYC departures after this year?

We were hoping to sail Disney out of NYC (which we can drive to vs. having to fly to PC) but it looks like there is nothing offered in 2023. We were hoping to do a placeholder on our upcoming cruise (this is all new to me) and use it for a sailing out of NYC. Back to the drawing board now I guess.

Perhaps once the ship after the Wish is on the seas. But right now they have commitments to PC and Miami/Ft Lauderdale - so that's 2 ships taken (possibly 3 if the commitment to PC is more days in port there - I'm not sure on that agreement); if they want to stay in Alaska and Europe - which are pretty lucrative for them - that's 2 more. That only leaves 1 to play with IF there is not the 2-ship commitment to PC - and I'm sure the sailings out of FL are more lucrative for them (plus other lines may have Bermuda booked up already - and that's the easiest to do out of NYC before the fall and the NE/Canadian season. There could be some out of NYC once the Dream leaves Europe before she heads back to FL.

In recent years, I think the NYC cruises have been in the fall. It's possible they will come out with some in the fall of 2023 with the next release.
That's my hope as well! And for the first time maybe it will be the Dream since she is going to Europe instead of the Magic. They have historically been repositioning the Europe/Med ship to NY after the summer season so fingers crossed! I love the Magic but the Dream would be nice for a change.

So maybe makes sense to book a placeholder then. Our cruise is late August so hopefully fall 2023 will be out by then. We shall see.

The placeholder is fully-refundable if you don't end up using it.

Cruise ship lines have to plan their (contracts) itineraries about 18 months in advance so there may not be any Disney ships in NYC 2023. I do know that MSC will be bringing a ship to NYC in 2023 and perhaps there were no berthing assignments available given all the other ships that sail from NYC.

As stated above, if anything, it will be released with the Fall 23 itineraries. It will be interesting to see when DCL announce the Fall 23 itineraries. Traditionally, they'd release them around mid-May/early June, but with Summer just announced... I am starting to think it may be late June at the earliest. Moreover, the Fall 23 itinerary will likely include the formal homeporting announcement at Port Everglades - which probably leaves a window again for a ship to homeport in NYC for a few weeks. Pre-pandemic, DCL had signed a new contract with the port authorities in New York to increase passenger loads and likely extend the season... which potentially might happen once ship #6 joins the fleet.

It's so frustrating not seeing any Spring and/or Summer Bermuda cruises out of NYC. I would love to go in the Spring on DCL!

I do wish they would bring back the summer 2012 8 night NY Bahamian Cruises. Living in the north east and working in a school. those were ideal! ;)
I agree - I hope that when all of the new ships are added, they have additional summer itinerary options (such as the east coast of Canada/New England). There’s so many itineraries that just don’t work around a school calendar.
