Ok... i need to just vent. I HATE my way tickets. With the removal of the "Ultimate Park Hopper" PERK of staying onsite. My husband can no longer be convinced that the magic of being "inside" is enough.

He loved the idea that he could have some sense of control of the situation. he could go anywhere anytime and not have to pay AGAIN.

NOW I have to stay at some crappy, non-magical hotel like Rodeway Inn where everything is NORMAL.

WAHHHHHHHH! :charac2:

Ummm ... the Ultimate Park Hoppers were usually a waste of money since you had to buy tickets for your arrival day and your departure day. You're actually getting a better deal with the new tickets. Have you stayed onsite before?

What I will miss about the UPH is the ability to go to a water park in the morning and then a regular park later in the day. Now, with the new tickets, you would have to use two separate admissions.

Savings aside. I think the only difference is the water parks and DQ were unlimted on the UPH. With MYW you get a certian number of visits depending on how many days your pass is for. Doesn't sound like a big deal to me, unless you really love the water parks and DQ.

For some people who never went to the water parks or needed the experation thing this saves them money. For those people who did, I can see this MYW think not working out so well. It almost forces people who want to do everything to flip for AP's since the difference between a fully loaded 10 day pass and an AP is only $20 or so.

The water park option was the reason my husband liked it so much. We could go to Animal Kingdom in the morning. And then hit a waterpark in the afternoon when the sun was at its warmest (we go in Mar/Apr)

NOW wed have to buy a separate ticket. AND its not worth it since its only a few more dollars to buy a 5th day at the parks we'll likely do that instead of hitting a waterpark.

GRRR.

Not sure what you mean by seperate ticket. You can get plus options added to the MYW ticket. I suppose if you want to go to the water park everyday that could exceed the number of pluses on your ticket.

with the MYW tickets you actually have MORE control, you dont have to pay for waterparks/pleasure island if you dont want to(we never did those), you can add meals if you want. only thing I dont like is you cant get more than 8 days, but I use AP's so it doesnt matter. :badpc:

It's a big deal for us because my son loves DQ. We used the FITS passes on our last trip. Since we had unlimited access to all of the venues, I didn't mind going to DQ for 3 hours several times during our trip.

If they offered a MYW pass that included unlimited visited to the water parks, DQ and PI, I’d jump on it.

I'm thinking of just getting a DisneyQuest AP and using our plus options for the water parks and PI. This won't save me any money, but it will allow us to vacation the way we like.

I like the MYW. How many folks really took advantage of EVERY feature on their UPH? We had LOS passes in '99 and never saw a water park and didn't go to DQ. We paid for tickets that we didn't use on our arrival day or departure day.

I never used the water parks or the non expiring part, so that is stuff I paid for and never used.

i think yall are missing my point. When we stayed onsite, we got Ultimate Park Hoppers. My husband TOLERATES my disney affliction, I mean addiction :) When we bought a package.. thats what you got. ultimate park hoppers. and that gave him what he wanted. everything for one price. He didnt have to think and he accepted that it was best to go that way.

BUT NOW... he has to think.. and he can see a CHEAPER version of the tickets without all the add this and add that prices.

PERSONALLY I think $35 a person is reasonable to add on park hopping... and since we only go to a water park once in the trip.. its not that big of a deal to ME.. but now his favorite part of staying onsite is gone. He doesnt feel exclusive anymore.

Help me. What BENEFIT does he get for staying onsite now? OTHER than being inside the magic 24/7

What about the extended park hours in the evening? Something like one park being open 3 hours later for resort guests. That's a lot of park time.

I'm with you. I like this much better. Not into Disney Quest, don't go PI because we go on a family vacations and cannot take our daughter to PI - she's 7. Not to mention, I would not use it even without my daughter. Don't drink and do the party scene. We never go to the waterparks, therefore a UPH was a waste of money for us.

I am not trying to sound like a grinch or anything, but if your husband needs an "excuse" or "reason" to go to WDW, sounds to me like WDW is not the place for him. Sounds to me like he needs a different vacation spot...maybe a waterpark instead.

Well, does he like to eat a lot in the parks? You can't do the dining add-on without staying at a Disney Resort. Does that help?

Can you do the Dine add-on without purchasing the MYW tickets? I like my AP.

A big advantage of staying onsite is letting them do the driving. (If you can handle the time involved. )

I like the themed resorts, too. Pop century is a really nice looking value resort. I would work on getting your DH to stay there. Show him some of the pictures.

Don't forget EMH.

We all have our opinions of these new tickets...and the funny is that none of us actually knows the whole skinny yet on them.

The part that worries me is that I no longer have the option of 7 days at a time at WDW...and have been hitting it for 3 days, maybe even 2 days post cruise or something. So what I've done is this: I have about 25 days of various park hopper passes that I've 'collected ' over the years. I'll have to use them for times when the new passes end up being more expensive or get an AP and use it lots during the year and then maybe take the next year off...something like that.

If you stay long enough at WDW, there really isn't all that much need to go 3 hours to a water park and then 4 hours at a theme park and 1 hour at DQ....because the travel time between them eats up a lot of time. And if you are staying onsite, sometimes cooling off in one of the resort pools (the Poly is my fav..and its beach) makes a more relaxing water break. It does sound like your H might just like the activity of water parks in general and be less interested in the theme parks. (It happens). So maybe spending one full day in a water park would allow him to concede to one full day hitting theme parks...and maybe he could cruise by himself back to the hotel and take a dip in the pool. Ah, negotiations and concessions all because Disney forced a change on us...and no one much likes changes without their advance input and approval, right?

I think there are ways to make the new structure more economical for most. THough I don't for a moment believe that was Disney's intent. If this doens't work out better for them financially , I 'm sure there will be changes!!

Good luck with your H...sounds like he might be just a tad passive aggressive, no?
