No Need For DVA?!.

So i can add a bunch of 50$ gc onto the site, and request one gc for the total amount,to use in parks? Do they mail you a physical gc with that amount on it to carry/use?

what does that mean, transferring the balance from one to another? Does it mean for example- if I have 5 $50 cards, and I put them in that site, I can put the entire balance of $250 on just one of the cards I have in my hand, and I only need to bring that one card with me when I travel? so that one card has a balance of $250,and the other have a 0 balance? I like this idea, if this is what it is, since a bunch of cards is somewhat of a pain to carry

Exactly.

Pick a card and transfer all the other cards onto that one card.

Yup! That's it! This site now allows you to combine your smaller denomination gift cards into one, larger one. The max is $1000 on a single card and you can have up to 5 cards on one account. I did find out that you cannot transfer a partial balance...it's all or nothing. I have three cards set up...one for this year's trip, one for next year's trip and one for my DVC annual dues. Each of the cards is funded from different sources so it is important to me to keep them straight. I accidentally added a $100 gift card to my card for this year's trip, which should have done to the card for my annual dues. Since the card for this year now has $700 on it, I could not transfer only $100 to my Annual Dues card. So, now I will just make sure that there is still $100 on the card after my trip and then I can transfer it over to the Annual Dues card when I get back.

I am new to... but very excited about....using gift cards to pay for a bulk of our Sept 2016 wdw trip
VERY glad to hear about this improvement!!

I will stick with DVA for the moment. Like the extra bucks I can get with it.

I am very new to the using gift cards for WDW vaca thing. Can you explain the benefits of DVA over using disneygiftcards.com or vice-versa?

DVA and the other website serve 2 completely different purposes. With DVA, you can enter gift cards to add to your balance to pay off your vacation package, tickets, or room reservation. For every $1000 you spend through DVA, they will send you a $20 Disney gift card. Any remaining balance can be refunded with a gift card or kept in your account for your next trip.

For disneygiftcards.com, you can combine multiple gift card balances to 1 gift card. So instead of going to disney with (for example) ten $100 gift cards to spend, you can now have one $1000 gift card. It's less to keep track of and carry.

Don't even bother to try to use DVA for Disneyland vacation, it is almost worthless.

DVA seems heavily weighted towards WDW "packages". I don't purchase packages because I find I spend less puttin my vacation together ala carte.

This new option to combine cards is long overdue and much appreciated.

Between this and DVA it will be sooo much easier & quicker to pay my DVC dues now! I'm sure the DVC accounting cms will be happy to hear this! A lot of times they are a tad annoyed when I call in each day with the max 10 cards ($50s & $100s).

Has anyone had a problem with this where one card was ineligible for transfer? I have two cards I'm trying to combine and it won't let me.

Just to be sure I have this straight. Are you saying that you combine your Disney gift cards on the Disney gift card site and then add one large card to the DVA account? Or are you saying that you can combine the gift cards on the DVA site itself?

The former.

DVA won't take anything under $15 I believe but you can transfer balances on the disney gift card site from one card to another. Yesterday though it wouldn't let me combine a $25 card with one with $28 so those are both going in my DVA.

Sometime soon I will be opening a DVA. I know that you have to have an account open for 120 days before qualifying for the spend $1000/ get $20 Disney GC deal. Not a problem since our next trip is still far off.
Is there anything else I should know BEFORE I sign up? Any special sign-up promotions that sometimes run? etc etc Don't want to look back and say, "Aww I could have done that before I signed up!" (like I applied for a Target Redcard and AFTER found out that I could hv signed up through swagbucks and gotten 400 swagbucks)

There are no sign up promotions and as far as I know there never have been. The only advantage is the $20 per $1000 spent.

I transferred about 6 cards onto one the other day. A few of them were $50 cards and the rest had small balances. After I entered a card and transferred the balance I deleted the zero balance card. So right now I just have one card on the site with all the money on it. If you have a ton of cards to transfer just do one at a time and delete it as you go! Or add 4, transfer the balances and delete four at a time! It was easy and I love that now all my spending money will be on one card and I don't have to carry a huge stack around with me!!!

IMO the best idea is to get the amount in that is closest to a $1000 dollar amount, and anything else keep in your own gift cards, as there is no benefit in keeping any extra in if you won't reach the extra $1000 level, and then be at the mercy of a request.
For example, if I figure my ticket and resort payment to be 3,600, I will only want to put 3,000 in DVA, and keep the rest to apply myself or bring with me. It serves no purpose to put the rest in the DVA as I will not be eligible for the 4th 20 dollar gc.

That definitely makes sense if you plan to use the DVA for one trip. I'm planning to use the same account for multiple trips. To use your example of a $3,600 trip, paying the entire $3,600 with DVA may only get me three $20 bonuses, but it gets me $600 towards my next $20 bonus when I pay for my next trip.

Yes, I was thinking of someone who doesn't go as often. More for the peple who were talking about getting the gift card back for their remaining balances.
