Just returned from our 10-day trip and as my family walked down the walkway to Soarin' without me, I decided to go along and give it a try. I am the queen of nausea. Car sickness, Body Wars, Teacups - none of that stuff for me - so I was pretty nervous about this ride, especially whent he person behind us in line said his wife was sitting out because she couldn't handle it.

I was pleasantly surprised that I really didn't have a problem with Soarin'. There were a few spots (most notably, the nighttime scene) when I had to momentarily close my eyes because it made me dizzy, but it never made me feel sick to my stomach. One good thing is that air is blowing on your face the whole time and that helps. It is also very smooth and doesn't bounce around.

It turned out to be my DD7 and DS5's favorite ride and we rode it 4 times with no problems. I'm so glad I gave it a try. I hope everyone else with motion sickness has the same luck.

And remember to go straight there in the morning - and get a FastPass!!

Thanks for posting this. I have major motion sickness, I have ridden Soarin' in DL. Haven't yet in WDW. My father also has motion sickness and refused to go on it with me in DL. I loved it! No problems at all. I really want my father to try it the next time I take him, but he's not so sure. Maybe I'll show him your post.
Thanks again.

Thanks for posting that....I'm another motion sickness sufferer and miss out on lots of rides because of it. My boyfriend really wants to go on Soarin' when we go in October, so he'll be happy to hear that I'll try the ride out with him!

I am taking my sister on this one. She can't handle things like this but I am so sure that it is safe for her that We are going to take her on it in December.

My mother stopped riding "Pirates" because of the "drop". It took alot of convincing to get her on Soarin', but my sister tried it first and assured her no problem. She rode it three times! LOVES it!

Great news! Only a month to go now before I try it for myself - thinking of popping a pill anyway just in case. ;)

another motion sickness queen checking in .... rode Soarin at DL several times with no problem ... it really is a wonderful ride

Is this something that you just sit down in and you watch the screen in front of you? I also get sick, but would like to try it. Thanks. :earsgirl:

The Teacups really get to me all of a sudden..... I was down there in JAnuary and rode them about 7:30 at night, was dizzy and queezy for about 15-20 minutes after...... And we weren't even using the Stearing Wheel in the Ride!

I was concerned about Soarin as I also am the queen of nausea. I can't even to the teacups, so thrill rides are out for me. I always take two dramamine before I go to the theme parks even for "milder" motion rides like Soarin!Better to be safe then sorry! Thanks for posting! :cool1:

I think because there is some perspective you won't feel sick. Your eyes follow like they would in the front seat of a car and your inner ear is more prepared. I can't ride Body Wars because I really can't tell what's up or down. Star Tours is no problem because there are recognizable features and you can tell you're "flying" upright, etc. I also loved Back to the Future at Universal Hollywood, but my DH couldn't handle it. As he, the Navy guy says, everyone has their motion that will make them sick. For some it's up and down, some sideways, some rolling, it just depends on your inner ear. I think I'll love Soarin. We'll see in Nov.

I hope this is true for me. Most of the new rides are useless for me because they are roller coasters or motion involved. I would be thrilled to be able to go on a new attraction. I will still take a pill b/c there is no way I will chance it. I do however even still get sick with pills. Ihate to take Dramamine even the less drowsey because with the heat and all the walking I am like a zombie.
