I've always heard that January,September and October are the light crowd months.

Someone told me recently that there are really no slow months anymore.

True or false?

Thanks.

False! I believe that their "slow" times aren't what they used to be. Partially due to the specials that they run during their off season. However, there is a HUGE difference in crowds between say June, July and August compared to January, September and October. ;)

I think it's a matter of perspective and being at the wrong place (or park) at the wrong time. When we used to go Pre-FastPass and Pre 9/11 in July it was so unbelievably crowded that every time we go since seems "slow" (we've never been spring break, July 4th week, or Christmas week though). I do have to say that the weeks in between Thanksgiving and Christmas used to be dead but with word of mouth and a lot of the TV specials this time of year has become pretty popular (still it can be "slow" depending upon what you're used to).

Disney aims to maximze the use of the parks.

To fill up the slow times it offers deals. It also has special groups come when it is slow.

The fall used to be slow but Disney has said with special offers over the last several years it had increased attendance during that time.

If you go druing the other slow times in Winter and Spring you will notice that hugs groups of atheletes will have events peppered through these times. Bringing in serveral thousand guests who didn't come before for 3-5 days.

Many rides have adaptable capacity so less cars are on the ride keeping the line longer. Also at the slowest times the best attractions are down for rehab. My last trip in February Splash was down, they had screens around much or the castle and Main Street. Also Fantasmic had less showings. That is the give and take of going during a slow time.

Kind of True.

With the advent of such great discount like Free Dining and the 4/3 deal, at typically slower times of year, has really added to WDW's crowd numbers. September used to be, literally, almost empy, but now that is the height of free dining season. Now, don't get me wrong, the September crowds are lower than other times of the year, especially the incredibly crowded times like summer and holidays, but it's not as slow as it used to be.

Many schools, especially in the southeast, have fall breaks during the month of October and that, along with the huge popularity of Mickey's Not So Scarey Halloween party and pretty decent discounts, has really added to the crowd numbers. There are still some pretty slow time frames in January, you just have to fit them in between, New Year's, The Disney Marathon and the MLK holiday.

I think it comes down to the fact that Disney employs some pretty talented marketing geniuses and they are very good at what they do.

True for the most part, the periods that are considered slow are smaller and smaller. For example I wouldn't consider October slow anymore with the F&W Festival and Halloween events like MNSSHP,even Halloween Horror Nights at Universal draws people who'll then opt to go to Disney. There will still be times that most lines are not more than 20 minutes but the amount of times in the year like this is limited.
