No more segmenting dining plan????

I just booked a last minute 3 night post cruise stay in March. I really wanted the DxDP for 2 of the 3 nights and MS said they can no longer segment?? Is this new for 2012? I did it twice last year without any problems.

The unofficial experiment ended late last year.

My Disney sources told me that the benefit for Disney didn't make up for the problems and bad PR.

Using the plan for part of the stay was the intention but there were DVCers changing plans every day of their stay.

Rats! DDP doesn't give us enough TS credits as we like to have a few signature meals, but the DxDP is so darn expensive now. The thought of eating CS my trip makes me queasy. Not sure what to do now??

Have you considered the Tables in Wonderland card which gives you 20% discount at most TS and some CS restaurants? There was an announcement that it would be available to DVC members but I don't think they have announced the cost yet. It costs $75 if you have an annual pass or $100 if you are a Florida resident.

Darn, for my next trip I was planning on doing a 1-6-1 with the Dining Plan only on the middle segment. We arrive late and leave early on travel days, so we never do the dining plan anymore as it's too many CS credits for us to use under the normal plan.

You can still change dining plans (or have a dining plan for only part of your stay) if you have multiple reservation numbers for your stay.

As I understand, that would require a split stay or, at the very least, changing rooms within the resort.

For future reference, if you have this in mind make sure that MS books your rooms under different reservation numbers. We have a split stay in May/June and are considering alternating dining plans but are not sure yet. We have two reservation numbers. However, I have read that it is possible for MS to book a split stay on one reservation number. Not sure if this is the case. It could be that MS has the option to book one stay within the same resort (but in two different room types) as one or two reservations.

Can anyone clarify this? Can MS put a split stay between two resorts on one reservation number? Also can MS put a split stay within one resort (different room class) on one reservation number (not sure if this would be referred to as a split stay)?

Yea, if I have to repack my luggage and change rooms just to segment my stay for DDP purposes, I'll pass.
