Now I know right from the get go that a request is just that. It isn't guaranteed. Today I called to book my end of November vacation and I wanted to request something besides non-smoking and was told they no longer can accept any requests other than that. She said they received a long email about not putting down any requests anymore.

Do you think this may be accurate or has anyone else run into this? Or could it be just more mis-information from CM's.

Also I read in another post that when booking things like the Disney collection DVC members tend to get a better view (for example MK view at Cont and so on). Can't find the post right now but if I find it I will post. Anywho I was told today that it is in fact random and that DVC doesn't receive the better view. Which I am find with but she said it kind of snotty. She said "We don't show you any favortisim". If that is really the case fine, but someone else was told this was the case and just wondering if this goes along with more mis-information type thing.

Booked today N/S, near elevator, pool view for Dec. '06

I booked BCV a few weeks ago for June - received confirmation and it states NS, upper floor - those were my only requests - I'd call MS again and just ask if you could add a room request to your reservation - maybe you'll get a CM who didn't read the e-mail ;) !

1) Not really.
2) Renters (cash people) usually can get better. *
3) They can more easily get comps and cash back for complaints. *
4) Their rooms can also be upgraded, where DVC membes can't. *
5) For same request, managers will give it to renters over members. *

* These have been discussed in prior posts.

I booked a June trip at SSR and requested NS, Congress Park, top floor and didn't have any problems.

I figured. I will call back later and see if I can add a request.

Doesn't bother me about non DVC resorts and members getting a better view. I just was curious because I had in fact read it both ways.

Sounds to me like you just got an inexperienced CM.

I recently called to book a stay at OKW and really only had one request -- N/S, medical necessity because of my daughter's asthma. The MS person actually asked me to make additional requests, saying it was no problem.

Frankly, as far as DVC's reservation computer system is concerned, I'm surprised they don't limit requests to N/S or smoking -- other than reasonable medical necessity requests like handicap accessible, first floor, etc.

That is NOT to say they shouldn't try to give you the floor, view, etc on check-in. My experience has been the CM's will do whatever they can to give you the room you want (within reason).

But if they are really using the famous (or infamous) room-ready scheme of room assignments, they CAN't pre-assign views/floors/near elevator/etc anyway. That doesn't mean you don't get it; just means it is not pre-assigned...so why bother taking a meaningless request?

I've had the opposite - I usually just request NS, but the MS CM has insisted a few times on adding things like Congress Park, DTD view, etc...... :goodvibes

cobbler, which resort did you book at? I'm wondering if this is the case at just one DVC resort. I haven't seen anyone here with a recent report from BWV or VWL. I just booked a stay at BCV a few days ago, and I didn't have any trouble adding requests. Well, a slight problem-I requested "third floor or higher" and my request came through as "third floor". No biggie, though.

I booked at OKW, and had lots of requests :teeth: The CM actually noted every one of them  I kept waiting for her to say stop ;)

When I stayed at Marriott Cypress Harbour recently, the CM said,"You had special requests, which will slightly delay your being assigned a villa. Is that OK with you?" Well, sure it was, since I had asked for NS, upper floor, and the best building on the property--I got all my requests, and waited until 4PM to get into my villa. I have waited until 4 pm at OKW, not gotten even one request, and was treated rudely to boot!

I actually booked with points at the CR Tower. The only request I was going to ask for was for MK view. I know it isn't guaranteed but just thought I would throw it out there.

She told me they weren't allowed to put down ANY requests at all. I asked if it was a recent policy and she said yes, they had just received a very long email saying they are no longer to put down any requests.

Now not sure if this just pertains to non DVC resorts or what.

Funny thing is she then asked me if I had any requests for smoking or non. I told her non and then she proceeded to ask me if I had any other requests. I said again that MK view would be nice and she told me again she couldn't put down any requests :confused3

Funny thing is when she read back the reservation to me she said Tower Club. I asked if that was like Atrium Club and she said no just tower but again mentioned Tower Club which I thought was either concierge or concierge light. But I was only deducted the points for a tower room and not concierge so who knows. Guess I will have to see what my confirmation says.

So I think I will call back later this week and just see if I can add it.
