No More Rehitching Ceremony!

I just called to reserve our Candlelight Processional dinner package. We are going to eat at the Garden Grill so I wanted to surprise DH with a Rehitching Ceremony. The CM informed me that they have STOPPED doing those! I am so dissapointed! Has anyone else heard this?

Welcome, Ilovedale3! I noticed this was your first post. I certainly hope that CM was wrong! Next time I call dining, I'll ask. I had requested the re-hitch ceremony on my PS when I called a month ago. It is a surprise for my parent's 50th anniversary during our visit in November. (They might not appreciate it, but I would have enjoyed it!). Now it might not be possible.

"After we were done eating our meal, preacher Sam arrived with best man Mickey. He announced to the other diners that "The Youngs were married ten years ago, and none of us were invited, so we are going to rehitch them Garden Grille style." He stated that we had been asked a question ten years ago and wanted to know what our response was. We both said I do. He then announced that if we could continue kissing to the count of 100 then we would be married forever. We held our kiss (that was the fun part) as our preacher and fellow diners counted to 10 by ones and then counted by tens to 100. Our waitress, Rosey took our picture as we were sealing our vows. We were then presented with a certificate of "rehitching" and were also given a cake."

Go ahead and call Disney Dining again to check this. I made a PS for our last trip in June at GG with the rehitching ceremony which was no problem.

Then we had to reschedule our trip for a week later which of course made for rescheduling our PS and the GG/rehitching one. The CM I spoke with this time hadn't had a clue what it was so I just told him to make sure he makes a note about it. When we checked in I mentioned it to the CM and they did the ceremony.

They could have stopped doing it but then again the CM just may not have been informed about it either.

The CM that I talked to said that they had very recently stopped the Rehitching Ceremonies. He said that many people were disappointed by this! He said that maybe if enough people complained they might bring it back. I am curious if anyone else has tried to set one up in the last few days and were able to do so!

And yes, this was my first post! I've been a lurker for the past few months but finally decided to jump in!

Welcome to the Dis Ilovedale! I've always wanted to do the rehitching ceremony. I'm going back to Disney next week and I'll see what I can find out.

I hope this isn't true. We just ate there on 9/20 and I asked at the podium if they still did the rehitching ceremony and she said they did and put a note on our card and when our meal was done the waitress performed the ceremony. Basically it was as stated in Fridye's post below. Our waitress, Cheryl was really funny. It was cute. Mickey wasn't there for it, but that was okay with me.

I had also heard that they were closing the Garden Grill for some remodeling. Don't know if that's true either, but that's what our waitress told us when we were there last month. As far as the ceremony, I don't know.

I had previously posted a similar message before we went to disney last week. While trying to make reservations for this, I was told on two separate occassions that they quit doing this. While we were there for the Ice Cream Social, I asked the CM at the check in stand. She said they do still do this, except without the kiss. I can happily say that we were 're-hitched' last Wednesday at Garden Grill. We also recieved a certificate. I sure wish Disney could get their story straight on this one, although I am glad the reservation folks were wrong. Good Luck.

I just called today (10/16) to try to get a Rehitchin Ceremony for November, and got the story that they were no longer offering it...

DH and I just did our rehitching ceremony on 9/20...kiss and all!! Also received a special cake that we took with us back to our resort and our certificate. It is a shame if they have stopped since last month. We definitely enjoyed it...and the manager took pictures for us!

We got the same story from reservations just before we left. We went to the Ice Cream Social and I asked the CM there about it. They said they were still doing it and we were re-hitched (Oct 13). We have the cute certificate to prove it! So, if your thinking of doing this, don't take the Disney reservations person's word for it. Ask at the desk at Garden Grill.
