Was just on DVC members site. Are they kidding? The only two resort restaurants we now have a discount at are ESPN Club and Spoodle's? What happened to all the others? And when did they make the change? Anyone know?

I think those are the only resort restaurants we get a discount at. There are others under theme parks and Downtown Disney.

Wow, I hope that they're just updating the site. :sad2:

The current Portable Perks - February - April, 2008 - lists DVC discounts at a number of restaurants:

ESPN, Spoodles, Concourse Steakhouse, Trail's End, GF Cafe, Olivia's, Whispering Canyon, Captain's Grille, Fulton's, Portobello YC, HoB, Planet Hollywood, Ragland Road, RFC, Wolfgang Puck Cafe and a number of options at Swan/Dolphin. Also included are McDonalds, Wetzel's Pretzels, Coco Moka Cafe, Ghirardelli and Haagen-Dazs at DD. In the parks, there are discounts at Funnel Cake carts, Noodle Station (MK), Coral Reef, Chefs de France, 9 Dragons, Marrakesh, San Angel Inn (EC), Studio Catering (HS), Yak&Yeti, Rainforest Cafe (AK).

These are all in the 10-20% range. Most are specific for either breakfast, lunch or dinner and some have limitations based on weekday/weekends.

DVC members will get the full list in their Welcome packet at check-in.

Enjoy! :)

No more Mama Melrose, huh? That stinks. :(

We used to get 10% off at lunch. Guess the restaurant is just becoming too popular.

Thanks for the list, Doc. I have an ADR at MM in 3 weeks and would have been a little peeved if I hadn't heard about this until I received the bill.

Didn't DVC also announce a new 10% discount at Mara (Animal Kingdom Lodge/Villas)?

I was wondering the same thing. In the Portable Perks book I got in December (um, 2 months ago), it listed 10% off at Boma, Jiko, and Mara as "New perks". Come and gone so quickly?

Jiko and Kona Cafe were on there in January and removed in Febuary. Fortunately for a our last trip which split jan and feb, our ADRs at those locations were in Jan.

We used to get a discount at each resort's restaurant. I remember there was one for Turf Club, Olivia's, etc. I know this because we used it last year at SSR. Also, when making reservations for our trip coming up, I checked to see which places we received a discount and there was more than ESPN Club and Spoodle's listed.

I'm especially surprised about the demise of the discounts at the resturants that are at DVC locations-didn't there used to be discounts at Turf Club, Cape May (dinner-certain times), Artist Point, and briefly at Boma/Jiko?

Yes. And until recently, they were posted on the members website. Not sure why they took it away. But you know, it seems DVC members are not getting as many discounts as we should or used to!:sad2:

Question: are you talking about a DVC member discount that we get automatically for being a DVC member or discounts using the DDE card? I'm confused!

I'm actually referring to a 10 to 20 percent discount we get for being DVC members.

We were at WDW from Feb. 2nd-9th, 2008, and everywhere we ate - we didn't get a DVC discount:sad2: . The only discounts we received were annual passholder discounts. Basin at DTD did give me a DVC 10% discount:) .

Just to be safe, I always ask wherever we eat if they offer a DVC discount. I believe ESPN is only for lunch??

What is the Portable Perks that were mentioned above? Where do we get this?

Portable Perks is a small booklet given to DVC members when you check into your resort. It lists various places throughout WDW where you can get a discount when you show staff your DVC member card. The "perks" can change throughout the year. I believe there is a booklet for each month.

If they are taking away, what are they going to give back???:confused3

If you log onto the DVC member web site, you can see they've given back zippo so far. :guilty:

Maybe there will be more discounts for restaurants in the Portable Perks booklet. That's what I was wondering in my PP, if anyone had an update.
