No more mandatory hand sanitizer on rides!

We just did two days of universal and it looks like the policy has been lifted today we use to have sanitizer before every ride now it’s optional and up to you!

yesterday they were doing it but today not at all

Personally, I wish they made everyone use hand sanitizer before getting on rides, COVID or no COVID.

Normally, I'd agree, but the stuff they used for hand sanitizer prior to rides was pretty awful. It was thick and goopy. I'm not sure it was alcohol-based. And they would give too much so we'd be getting on rides with glops of stuff that felt like shampoo on our hands. The self-serve stations at the end of the rides didn't have the same stuff, and we'd use that to get the residue of the goopy stuff off.

Universal's website states Hand Sanitizer will be available for use prior to boarding rides. You now have an option. I'll opt to use it or my own. Their brand is sticky.

YESSS!!!!! My hands were red and peeling after just two days last trip. Nasty stuff. I like to sanitize often at other theme parks for non-Covid reasons (caught noro once at disney and it was horrible—made me ramp up my sanitizer game) but use my own spray I bought online that is soooo much better—more effective against noro and gentler on hands. Going again in August and sooooo happy this is gone.

I was there 4 days in a row with sanitizer right before the change last week...no one in my fam was bothered by it, and it seemed like many ride operators had the "dime size amount" down perfectly...just enough to rub in without constantly overwhelming the hands with product (aka, the 95% germ solution)...I didn't mind it at all...in fact, I didn't mind any policies last week - I just minded food and beverage lines...

One thing I thought they did way better than Disney-hand sanitizer before touching everything everyone else will! I know it's not how Covid is mainly spread, so I get it. But I will continue to carry my own and use it after each ride. It's like the hand wipe before the buffet on the Disney ships, it helps stop a myriad of regular yuck yuck.
