Hi Everyone:
Just wondering if anyone knows why they no longer have the Lifetime network and Lifetime movie network on the resort tvs? When we had downtime either later in the evening or early morning, sometimes I would watch a program on Lifetime or a movie on Lifetime movie stations. Now, it's MSNBC which is also available on the higher channels. Just curious as to what made them drop one of their own stations.
Thanks

Back in August Disney sold its stake in the Lifetime networks. Disney was previously 50% owner, but sold out to A&E.

With the exception of some essential channels (local network affiliates), Disney tends to keep resort TV to their own family of networks. I wouldn't expect Lifetime to return.

This one confuses me. Disney, Hurst, and NBC/Universal own A&E. :confused3

I am currently at OKW and have lifetime on channel 7 and LFTM MOV (lifetime movie) on channel 8.

Good point. Of course, WDW doesn't carry any of the A&E networks so there must be something to it. DIS has a minority stake in A&E vs. the 50% ownership of Lifetime under the prior arrangement. Perhaps that keeps them from getting a favored rate. Perhaps the A&E carriage agreements mandate multiple networks and WDW doesn't want to pay for all of that. :confused3

It might just be the resorts that have switched to the HD feed, or some other related criteria. This isn't the first time I've heard about Lifetime being phased-out so it seems like it's happening at some locations.

We were at OKW in August and Life had been replaced with news channels.

Hi everyone:
thanks for the replies. I didn't realize they had sold their portion in Lifetime.

So what you're saying is that I am going to have to miss 2 episodes of Project Runway while I am down there in a few days?!?! NOO!!!! I'm sure my other half will be pleased as punch with this news though :rotfl2:

I find Disney's TV very lacking! We are getting ready to have our longest stay that we've ever had. This will drive my husband crazy!!! Not in the room during the day, but it is nice at night to watch what we like at home. Not at Disney!

Disney doesn't want you staying in your room. They want you paying to get into the parks and paying to eat in their restaurants. :thumbsup2
