No More 'Just Married' Buttons?

I was just there Dec 25-31 and I got two buttons upon checking in, without even asking for them. (I did mention that my maiden name was on the cc). I wonder if they changed Jan 1?

Disney could just ask for "proof" like an id or marriage license but I guess people could still reuse the same pin if they came back.

awwww....Im really sad I hope they don't get rid of them DF and I were just talking about that! Because we are staying on poperty instead of in a condo w/ my mom. When we get married in July. We think it is cool when people congrat you. Not looking for anything extra just think they are fun!

Awww..this saddens me!!
I really wanted the "just married" pins for a souveneir...

FH & I embarrass easily, and wouldn't really want anyone making a big deal over us anyway, but they are still nice to have. I hope they are there for our December honeymoon. I am subscribing to this thread!

We were there Jan 18-23. We were handed Just Married buttons upon checking in, didn't even ask for them!

Are the "Just Engaged" buttons actually going to be discontinued as well? Where would I go about getting them?

Plan on being in WDW for an engagement in early March!

While we were there, we were told they are being discontinued. We got ours @ the Poly when we got back from Epcot after getting engaged:)
They should still have them in March, I hope!

If this is true it will be pretty disappointing as my fiancee and I are honeymooning in Disney in September. I'll gladly purchase 2 from any source I can if that happens.

We gotta get them to match the "Just Engaged" ones!

When my DH and I were there in January, our resort (BWV) didn't have the "Just Married" ones, we were given the happily ever after ones, but I was able to get the Just Married ones at Hollywood Studios guest services. I saw quite a few people with them at Epcot too.

thanks for the info... I was wondering the same thing... I was going to pick them up when I go next month :cheer2::grouphug:

Oh, I really hope they have some of these left by May when I'm on my honeymoon!!!

I called member services (I was pretty bummed on the report here on the boards and was hoping for verification) and the woman I spoke with said she had not heard that they were cancelling any of the buttons. She said she may be wrong, but she has not heard anything.

Maybe they thought expectations were getting out of hand for the "Just Married" buttons? I've seen a few threads along the lines of, "we wore our buttons every day and got nothing!" It just seems odd to discontinue only those ones, you know?

I have to admit, even I've rolled my eyes at the lengths some couples go to in order to ensure everyone in visual distance knows they just got married. If it was just to celebrate, that would be one thing, but I get the feeling they want everyone to know to get free stuff or special treatment...

lets agree to disagree on this one. I dont think they should give the button to everyone who says we just got married. But I do think that if you got married on property you should get one and you should be able to be as goofy about it as you want. Because when you see how much some couples spend between the disney wedding and their disneymoon they deserve special treatment...They already payed for it.

COMPLETELY AGREE!

although when we wore our buttons (thats all the just married apparel that we wore, nothing else) most cast members would ask if we got married here or not and they all seemed really suprised when we told them that we did. But i agree just married buttons should be for Disney brides and grooms only. other people should get honeymoon buttons or somehting like that. I know a person who lives 1/2 hour away that has all the buttons and wears then with her friend when they go just to get free stuff. it is really annoying.

We wore our Just Married buttons, and were often told congratulations. We also wore bride and groom ears, because I thought they were fun.
We didn't expect anything, and did it because it was fun! Even though I did get married on property, I don't think they should limit the buttons to people who got married on property, that doesn't seem in the Disney spirit... Ohhhh you are special, but not as special :lmao:
I think what Ember said is most likely part of it, people tend to think that a button means they will be getting free stuff, or extra special treatment.

i have to agree with what some of you have said, its unfair that people wear the buttons just for attentin when they dont need it!!

last october when i was there on my 21st birthday, i was given a birthday badge at the poly and wore it for that day only. when i was at the magic kingdom getting my birthday giftcard, a man walked up to the counter and asked for a birthday badge for his wife, the guy at the counter asked when her birthday was, and he said 'its not her birthday, she just wants a badge because she feels leftout, it was my birthday last week and im wearing my badge and she wants one too'!!!

it made me feel like my day was less special because a grown woman (maybe it would be different ith a child) was pretending it was her birthday too!!

we had got engaged a few days beforehand, and didnt even know that they did just engaged buttons!! we were just about to leave animal kingdom on our last day when i saw a couple wearing them and asked where they got them. we went to get our buttons and wore them for the last 2 hours of our holiday and got lots of congratulations!! even though we barely wore them i love having them as a keepsake, they are so special to me, so i hope that there will still be wedding ones in the future, even if they only give them to couples who get married there!!

I agree its annoying we didnt wear our engaged buttons and were given them to us at meals etc when they saw we werent wearing them! Also the I'm celebrating button we hear people celebrating say they were celebrating just being at Disney lol

I dont agree with just disney weddings get them that isnt fare me and DF are going for our honeymoon we really wanted to get married at WDW but due to DF dad being very ill and to ill to travel we cant we are still going for our honeymoon 4 days later! We have booked a honeymoon package etc so we are also paying plenty for it!

bottom line is that people are trash. if you start a good thing (special treatment for special occasions) you are going to get some that are just taking advantage of a good thing and ruining it for everyone else. I would say that at least half the people wearing a button in disney world are not really celebrating what they say, they just want free stuff.

Not sure how many people read Carly's Disney Wedding blog but she just did a post about them today. Looks like they are phasing them out. I wonder if they will bring anything new in the future. I picked up a set when I first heard this last time I was there. Maybe we can do a bride swap and pass them down so only members of the DIS having Disney weddings know where to get them? :rotfl:

I can't post links yet because of my lack of posting so if someone who follows her could post that'd be great! Its disneyweddingblog {dot} com and search for today (4/2/2010). It will be right after her video.
