No more iphone from Virgin Mobile :(

Has anyone actually bought an unlocked iPhone 6 from Apple and connected it to Virgin Mobile? The "learn more" link doesn't mention Virgin Mobile. It mentions Sprint but from everything I could find - you can't use an unlocked iPhone with Virgin Mobile - it has to be a Virgin Mobile phone. VM's website says it but I don't know if that applies to the 6 since it doesn't have a SIM card. We will probably have to switch once my iPhone 5S or my dh iPhone 4S dies. I don't want to but I don't like how Virgin Mobile is changing their plans.

iTunes gift cards don't work on hardware. Are you sure the cards at Kroger are valid at the Apple Store?

Yes. They are Apple gift cards, not iTunes. Some are fixed amounts, some variable load (up to $500). I just noticed them in the last few months so I think they are new. I'm very excited as a 14% savings is a lot on a $750 phone

http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-plans DD has the $30 unlimited data and text from t-mobile. Only 100 talk minutes which is fine for teenagers. Scroll down, it is at the bottom of the page. She doesn't always have great service, but that might be the iphone 4 she is using. She's in wifi 90% of the time anyway.

I'm intrigued. It looks like with the auto pay and multi line discounts 3 basic lines (talk, text, and 2.5 gb of data) would be $75/month. I like straight talk, but my kids will get phones soon (holding out as long as I can) and then straight talk will get too expensive.

No, you don't have to. You can use an unlocked phone or one that is locked to ATT will work as well. I ended up buying one of their phones anyway though (Moto G LTE), because it was only $25 after rebate and came with the SIM card. Always good to have a spare phone.

The nice thing these days is you can buy an unlocked iPhone and if one prepaid isn't working out it's easy to switch over since there is no contract. The options have expanded tremendously over the last year even.

My husband had the same problem a couple weeks ago and had virgin fix it. Unfortunately when they did, it reset his plan so he no longer gets the extra $5 off.

Go to VMs Facebook page and ask about it. I noticed some others having the same problem, and they offered to help. When I had some problems once, Facebook was the only way I got accurate help.
